HIFS Room Request

Hi. I don't know that I have much useful information for you, but at least I will be bumping this up for you (I hate it when noone answers my posts). In terms of making requests when you book, I would say you could try but are not guaranteed anything. I think it is really more dependent on what day/time you check in and what is available.
They are willing to work with you when you check in, however, so you may want to decide what your priorities are: building, floor, parking lot or pool view, kids room theme. I think in terms of buildings, 7 and 8 are the closest to the lobby (I would double check that, though). First floor may be a little noisy, top floors I have heard the elevators are very slow. We had the second floor and it was perfect. If there was a wait for the elevator, we just walked up. We chose parking lot view so it was easier to get to our car, I think they may charge extra for pool view, too.
We had the Disney themed suite and it was beautiful, but I think this trip the theme would be lower on our list of priorities, and the location higher. Good luck!

We just got back from HIFS. We were in building 6 on the 4th floor with a view of the pond. We got the King suite with the bunk beds for the kids. We loved having the space and fridge. We also stayed at Animal Kingdom lodge and that was small and costly. The elevator was slow at times at HIFS and I thought crowded considering we were in off peak season. I would reserve in advance.

So noted. I usually don't have preferences but the information about the elevators will give something to conemplate since we are taking My Mother In law.

Thanks for replying.

We just got back yesterday from HIFS and I requested a theme at check in. All I told the girl was that I had heard that the Wild Birds theme and also the Jungle theme were dark and scary for little kids, and asked for suggestions on something else. We didn't do Disney this trip, just went to US/IOA for the weekend so I didn't want a Disney themed room. Anyway, the girl's name was Victoria and she was so helpful! She suggested the rain forest theme, which is sort of like the jungle but not as dark and has brightly colored flowers and lots of parrots and stuff. It was perfect. We were in suite 1126, which was on the second floor of building 11. We were about 20 feet away from stairs to the pool area, we had a pool view, and the parking lot wasn't far either. It took about 5 min. to walk to the lobby. I would ask at check in, all of the employees were very nice, and I asked what themes were available, and she listed all of them. The resort was not full by any means, so I think you would pretty much have your pick. HTH!!! Also, I have lots of coupons for a free pizza party during your stay if you would like one, send me a pm and I'll get it in the mail for you....
