I have reservations at the HIFS for Aug 20-24, because I have read all the threads about possible renovations being done while I was there, I decided to give HIFS a call to confirm the rumors. Well, low and behold while I would be there the main pool will be closed as well as the East Court section. She said that the lap pool will remain open during this time. I don't know about any of you, but my kids were looking forward to the fun at the main pool, not at the lap pool. Bottom line is, if you have reservations for this summer, call and check on what will be being renovated at the time. I'am glad I called, I will start looking for something else.

Oh Man that really stinks!!! We'll be there the end of June and I called a few weeks ago to check the same thing. I spoke with Monique (really nice, by the way) who assured me there would be no inconveniences during my stay. I believe she said they'd be working on the lap pool at that time. They are supposed to make it more of a family pool so maybe it wont be so bad in Aug?

Sorry HIFS may not work out for you and your family.:(

There's plenty of info on these boards. If you really need to, you should be able to find a great place to stay!

Thanks for the info. I will call again to see if the lap pool will be made more into a family pool. If so, I will keep my reservations.

My dh called and was told that they were converting the lap pool to a kid friendly pool. He was also told that there would always be at least one kids pool open. You may want to ask to speak to the manager or owner (who I understand is very hands-on).

asking what renovations would be going on during my stay May 2- 8 and this was part of the reply:

"Referencing our tentative construction schedule, during May the Lap pool area will be closed. The Family Fun Pool area will remain open during this time with all the amenities and fun activities. We will also be constrcuting a new lobby area in a currently unused section of the resort, not affecting much of any guest areas. We are spreading out this transformation over an entire year in order to create the least amount of disruption for any any guest staying during this period.

Please let me know if I can help you further."

So, maybe send an e-mail for clarification.

HIFS is Holiday Inn Family Suites - a popular suite hotel that is VERY child-friendly.

Thanks for posting this! I'm staying Aug. 29 to Sept. 5 and we picked this hotel solely because of the kiddie pool!! If its not going to be open we might as well stay at the ASMo! Let me not jump the gun, having the suites are nice also so I'll call tonight and see... :(

I am under the impression (although not entirely positive - I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) that the lap pool is being renovated to make it like another kiddie pool. I know they are putting in a slide, at least. So even if the current kiddie pool is closed during your stay I'm sure the kids will have fun in the other one, which will be done by then.
As to your staying at ASMo instead, the pool is not by far the only thing separating the two. You also have 3 SEPARATE sleeping areas, three TVs, two VCRs, Nintendo 64, frig, micro, kids activites, etc., etc., etc. Are you SURE none of these would convince you to stay here?

I called and reserved our room last night for Aug1-6. I asked about the renovations and was told they were expected to be done by August.
