HIFS or Priceline Resort?

I need some advice. We are in the process of planning a trip in November and we're going split the vacation up - 4 days at Universal and 4 at WDW. We're going to stay onsite at Universal (not sure which hotel yet) for the FOTL access and it's going to take a big chunk out of our budget. I was orginally planning on bidding for a resort room on Priceline for the 4 days we go to WDW but the more I read about HIFS, the more it sounds like something my kids would enjoy (ages 8 and 5). I don't think a "resort" like the Wyndham or Marriott World would be something they would get too excited about, but it sounds nice to me and my dh.

I got a rate of $81.00 per night at HIFS for our dates with the Entertainment card. I'm pretty sure I could get a resort through Priceline for right around that amount or even less. What would you do?

Thanks for any thoughts!

That is an awesome rate for HIFS. And I agree, the Marriott and the others are nice hotels but your kids will LOVE the HIFS. We could see the Marriott from the HIFS and my son, then 8, remarked, remember when we thought THAT was a nice hotel? :p

Also, with the PL hotels, you will only get a room for the four of you. This way the kids will get their own room and you will, too!

I agree. It's a great price, it includes full breakfast (you would have to figure that in to your PL hotel cost) and...your kids WILL love it. I say go for HIFS!

Ages 5 and 8 are perfect for HIFS! My kids were 8 and 6 and 1.5 last year when we were there and we also went the year before....they love the place so much, we are returning there again this year even though I'd like to try someplace new just for a change! Your kids will be happy and when the kids are happy, how can you not be happy?

HIFS for sure. We have stayed at both and my kids much prefer HIFS. Also keep in mind that kids eat free at HIFS, so with that savings and the free brekky you are paying the same amount as priceline for a bigger room. Also play bingo at night the kids will love it and win little toys or coupons for free ice cream or drinks.

Another vote for HIFS!

$81 is a terrific rate! Add in free breakfast and it's value is comparable to that of a room you would get on priceline. Plus you'll have more space.

Thank you all for your replies!

After talking it over with my dh, we're going to go with HIFS. Like most of you mentioned, even if we got a resort on Priceline for cheaper, after considering the cost of breakfast and the "resort fee" most of them tack on now, we probably wouldn't be saving much if anything.

Our rate is actually $86 now - I went with the King Kidsuite instead of the Queen cuz my kids want the bunkbeds but I figure it's still a great deal! :D

Thanks again, everyone! Now I've just got to get a great rate at Universal. ;)
