Let me start off by saying that we have personally NEVER done this, nor do we know anyone who has. However, everyone talks about what it would be like if you hid in the parks until after closing time.

Has anyone ever tried? Or know someone who did? What happens? Do you hide on a ride or in a bush....? I would guess that you would have to stay hidden because there are so many workers that you would be caught the second you showed yourself. But it would be an accomplishment just the same.

Lets also say where we would hide if we did. If I was going to hide in the Magic Kingdom, I would either...
1.) jump off the WDW railroad and hide in a bush.
2.) hide on Tom Sawyers Island
3.) jump in the silver plastic balls below the waiting line of Space Mountain and bury myself a la Chuck E. Cheese's ball pit.
4.) hide behind the barrels and other props in the waiting line of Pirates of the Carribbean.

I know this is a strange post but I thought it would be interesting.

Not to be rude...

I agree the idea is "cool". :smooth: But that's where it stops. Most of the deaths at Disney parks have been caused by this. [Source] Just be sure this is one idea that never makes it off the drawing board... :firefight

That is one sick website! :guilty:

I most definitely agree. Just felt it necessary to discourage anyone who might lack judgement and try such a thing. (Hopefully no one here, but just had to be safe. Concern from working one too many special events...) Because I can certainly see the appeal of such an idea. I'm still holding out for some kind of 'stay the night in the park'. (See the "Rule the Kingdom" part.) Wouldn't that be great?

Oh, I agree with you. I had no idea about those (largely preventable) accidents, and it just goes to show that WDW magic Pixie Dust doesn't mean that you're infallible.

The reason that I think that website is sick is because the writer (Freeman? I'm sorry - I don't remember his name) writes about these tragedies with such sordid glee. Pretty twisted.

That "Rule the Kingdom" idea is very cool! :flower:

Whoa whoa whoa. You guys are TOTALLY taking this the wrong way and ruining a perfectly innocent post. This post is NOT supposed to be actual, just for fun. I hope you got that from the tone of my original post. Please, let's get off the Disney deaths and have fun with it.

Oh no, I wasn't trying to imply that was your intent. I just wanted to add a caution for people who might have trouble finding that line between fantasy and reality. By all means, have fun dreaming. :scratchin I guess if I could, though impossible, I would love to spend the night in the castle (though I suppose I'd want to turn the restaurant into a big bedroom) or camping out on the Jungle Cruise. Could you stand a night in the mansion (assuming you could mute the music - or just have a "swinging wake"?) :charac2: Or as Iago suggests, you could just go over to The Hall of Presidents [to] take a nap.

Well if I wanted to be a jerk i would say Timekeeper because no one really seems to go their anyway! If I had to hide in MK I would say the bushes next to the Castle walkway. Doesnt seem to be too thick and I would think next to the Castle would be lighted enough to see a little around you at night. I am not giving any ideas to anyone but just going with pure fantasy.

Not to rain on your thought but it would be pretty hard to hide after closing time in the parks. CM's do a sweep and look for those that haven't made it out of the park. You would really have to be hidden to be missed by a CM or security.

Isn't it really busy at Mk at night? I thought that's when they do a lot of maintenance! Of course, as a kid, I had the fantasy of running away to WDW, sneaking into an unused storeroom in the castle each night to sleep. Kind of like "the Mixed Up Files"

Well hauntedmansion79, I know that you are not trying to "sneak" into one of the parks, and this is all in fun so:

Also would hide on Tom Sawyers Island. But woulsn't we be stuck there all night?

I think that it would be easy to do at AK since there is so much foliage, although I think it would be scary (having all those animals around ;) )

I don't think I would hide out at Epcot. Too open.

Mgm- somewhere near The Indy stunt show I think. Or maybe in Honey I shrunk the Kids play area- inside the Lego LOL :rotfl:

Hey, we can always dream. I too have thought about this. I usually do since I like "survival" and often wonder what I would do to "survive".

I used to think about this when I was little about a local park/ride place. At Disney I would love to spend the night in the Castle I hear there are incredible apartments up there. Would just love to wonder around crowd free. Tom Sawyer Island would be fun to being "trapped" on the island til morning when the first raft comes over.

Since it's just make-believe, I think that hiding all night at the Haunted Mansion would be spooky cool. I know they comb everything so it would never happen anyway. Heck, MK was open 7 AM- midnight everynight -- and 7 AM to 3 AM on my birthday -- so can only imagine how busy and active it was during close time just getting it ready for the following 7 AM.

Wouldn't want to hide in scratchy shrubs, so alternativey, would choose a Splash Mtn. log or behind some big doll in IASM.

Hiya :wave2:

Although this would be a cool thing to do, sort of staying in a shopping centre after hours and running wild though the toy/sweet/alcohol section type thing I have to mention...

I was once in a theme park in Spain until closing at 11pm and at about 10.45 because there was hardly anybody left they started turning lights etc off which was very very very very scary. The lack of people and lack of light gave it a really sinister effect and we almost ran out of the park even thought my DF is 6ft 2" and built like one of your american football players!

What would you do if you hid in the park? If you tried to ride rides I'm sure for one you don't know how to operate them and second security will see you.

Except that this is the "Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies" board. Perhaps this type of post would be better suited for the community board?

I've been in the parks a couple of times way past closing (or before opening), but unfortunately it was MGM both times, and I was also working...

First time was one of the first couple of days of training at Rock N Roller Coaster, going it at around 4:30am (i am NOT a morning person), driving into an empty parking lot in the middle of the night, going through the gate (there was no security guard on that side of the park's CM entrance), and walking across sunset to coaster... luckily I didn't do this very often, as, besides getting up early, the morning routine consists of walking to ever brake zone and clearing it manually, including the two way up high (nothing like 100 feet up on a platform with a see-through grate floor and waist high railings at 5am), although nothing wakes you up as quick as a trip on the coaster...

Second time I got stuck working with *shudder* cheerleaders.... high school ones I believe... it was their last day, and they were having a parade/ceremony. Well, it went WAY late, and they kept all the restless girls inside hollywood and vine (this was after closing), 250 girls or so with all of three college program CM's to keep an eye on them... the place was ripped apart, they found the candy toppings bar and that was it..walking out we were taking away pieces of props they had ripped off the restaurant..bunch of savages... anyways, by that time it was way after closing, and I got bumped out of hollywood and vine. My 'job' was to stand on hollywood blvd and make sure the cheerleaders, as they left, went towards the exit. After 15 mins most everyone was gone, but nobody was around to send us home. so....we waited..and waited... this was february, probably 40 degrees that night, I could see my breath... and all I had was a thin sweater under my cheerleading tshirt.... the park was pretty much dark except for a few lights...and all I can remember is dancing around to the movie theme songs to keep warm... Maybe MK would've been more exciting..

This sounds like fun...don't take the thread too seriously. This is just for fun. I hope nobody would be stupid enough to do it. I've fantasized about it myself. I admit it.

Let's see - where would I hide? I think you would need to jump off the train (again, don't try this at home kids) somewhere in the vicinity where they start talking about the forests of Virginia...cross the little creek and hide in the bushes. Maybe you would be mistaken for an audio-animatronic.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

this is funny. I wonder if anyone on these boards has actually tried it and would be willing to fess up.

wait a minute. This is a theme park "strategy". LOL.

I can't get into the website. I wanted to take a look at it. Does anyone know how to get into it?
