Hey everyone,

This is my first post on the board, so I apologize if I have posted in the wrong forum or broken some unwritten rule.

My girlfriend and I are heading down to Disney World in the Spring. We visit the parks about once a year, and since we've seen all of the major attractions we enjoy discovering the special "touches" that Imagineers have hidden in the park. For example: The well in front of Indiana Jones at MGM, Mr. Toad's tombstone at the Haunted House or the plaque memorializing Randy Pausch by the Teacups.

I think we've hit most of the obvious ones but would appreciate tips on new things to look out for.

Additionally, last time we went Disney had just launched the Kim Possible mission in Epcot. Is there any new event/experience being rolled out in the parks soon?

Thanks for the tips!

I am reading the Hidden Magic of WDW right now and it has a lot of that kind of information in it. It was $12.95 and will most certainly be in my hands on the plane for a quick refresher before we get to the parks!

Our family likes to find hidden Mickey's around the parks. We bought a book about hidden Mickey's while at Disney. It is a lot of fun to try and find them as you walk around.

The title of the book is:

"Hidden Mickeys A Field Guide To Walt Disney World's Best kept Secrets"

I will definetly have to get the Hidden Magic of WDW also.

I just thought you may want to do some of the Tours Disney offers. My wife and I have done the Segway Tour at EPCOT and the Backstage Magic tour. They were well worth the money. I cannot wait till the kids are old enough.

The best thing that we did was do the swim in the tanks at Epcot. They only allow 11 people a day to do it so you must make your reservation way ahead of time. Dive Quest is what I think it was called.

I recently bought The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World. Written by Susan Veness. Talk about Awesome. She uncovers so many hidden things you would never notice if you really werent looking. I strongly reccommend it. Oh I fogot, we bought it at Barnes and Noble for $12.95. Can you say AWESome. It is a great read as well as fun.

I have that book as well, I hope I don't forget to bring it with me whenever I go to WDW. I gotta tell you that I have learned a lot of new stuffs from the book. I probably would never notice anything.

Neat stuff.

Great book, huh? I got it for Christmas and after just the first chapter, I felt like have missed so much. I can't wait to go back and rediscover.

into this one, but I bought the Complete Guide to WDW a little while ago. So far it has fun facts about most of the rides, most I know, but some I do not. In some cases they detail the backstory of the ride such as for Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Here is a link to look through. It's a long, list of hidden gems. DCanoli has put a lot of time in maintaining an up to date list of what is submitted and she has been doing that for a few years now. She shares it with anyone that asks. If you have enough posts send her a PM to avoid cluttering the thread. You will find plenty to look for from that.

Thanks for all of the responses. I picked up Hidden Magic this afternoon, and I am already excited to check out some of these hidden features.

That is so funny! I am reading the same book now too! Love it! I also will have it on the plane with me. That and the new Hidden Mickeys book. :)

Thanks for the suggestion of the Hidden Magic book. I just ordered one from Ebay.

Hi folks - Susan and I don't look into the DIS anywhere near as often as we used to (or would like, thanks to all our work commitements) but we still post from time to time and are really grateful for these kinds of comments. Really helps to brighten our day (and lighten the workload a little!).

I have to say that someone on the boards mentioned this blog and I am addicted to it. The guy updates it pretty regularly and it has some fantastic information on the story and background of the themes throughout the parks.
