I just started reading this thread, and I agree wholeheartedly. It does
help to stress to everyone that they need to quote the source if someone
else posted the information first.

I agree. I don't know if it's really a rule, but I would say it's an unspoken rule. It may not be wrong, meaning against the rules, to borrow something from another thread, but it is just the 'right thing to do' to give them credit. I don't think whoever pointed this out was giving a personal attack, however, I read the post before it was removed...and the only thing I can say is it could have been worded a little more nicely. But it was good of that person not to take offense to their post being removed, and to be an adult (and I believe apologize) about it. (Sorry I don't remember that person's name and I am too lazy to backtrack and look )

I like to think that we are all friends here at DIS...whether we know each other or not

I am curious, are the Hidden Mickeys shaded like the old ones or are they objects.I saw two cactuses at Big Thunder Mountain and I am not sure if that counts.

They're shaded, but some of them look like they're shaded less than the last ones.

I saw VMK_Red yesterday and she was doing the hidden mickey quest too. I helped her find the one in the Haunted Mansion Lobby and then she told me that she'd just got her Bronze Pin. So thank you to this thread

I am going to have to step in here Miakoda and say that yes that the post that was removed was a Personal attack according to the rules of posting on the DIS. We the moderators do not remove posts lightly. As far as the poster not taking offense no offense should have been taken they did something against DIS rules and it was removed. I am not going to repeat what this person said because that would in fact be defeating the purpose of removing it.

You are correct, and thank you for clarifying...some of these hints are so unhelpful that it was never my intention to actually take credit for them. I think SpinMarty was just trying to give me credit for organizing these hints and apparently being the first to post them, along with a screenshot of the new pins. Over on VMKf, I did point out where these hints originally came from in a follow-up post, saying:


I thought about taking/posting more detailed notes, but I didn't want to spoil the new quest so early. These hints (along with several hundred wasted pictures) were enough to get me through the new quest in a few hours.

the hidden mickey quest list that mtlhddoc2 created is now in the guide and if anyone has anything further to say about why that post was deleted from this thread they need to do so in a PM to me or LoriR.

I think my post was taken the wrong way. The point I was trying to make (on almost no sleep) was that I agree that the post should have been removed, even if the person was right. It should have been and was removed because of the "not so delicate" wording of the post. I see both sides of the issue, and for the record I did not mean to say that I disagreed with the post removal, as I saw it and thought to myself that was a little harsh. I would have removed it myself.

I am a member of other message boards, and one in particular has no real rules for "in-thread fighting", as it were, and general meanness between members. Therefore, I go to talk about movies and TV shows and all I find is hatefulness, bashing, cursing, and a general atmosphere of menace. I won't even go there anymore since it has gotten way out of hand. I like DIS because we can chat in an adult manner and the mods do not stand for any personal attacks or rudeness at all. In fact, I'm impressed at how quickly the moderators find and remove these posts. I was blamed for a post that was made from my computer before I even had a chance to see it, and I'm almost always on here. I can't imagine how you mods can manage to read every single post and quickly remove the "wrong" ones. Good work, team

So anyway, the point to my earlier post is that I agree with the poster that credit should be given where due, however, they could have re-worded the post to be a little more friendly. Especially since the person who did not give credit did not intend, I am pretty sure, to "steal" someone else's work.

I apologize that I did not word my post adequately and that my meaning was not clear. I was surprised that I had received a PM from one of the mods, indicating that I did not understand why the post was removed and explaining the reasoning behind the removal. That is not true, I understand perfectly. I guess what I feel is a "personal attack" is different than how the mods see it. That is probably b/c of me being so jaded from the other message boards I have frequented. The person's post was NICE compared to what I have seen! However, in DIS standards (thank goodness) it was not OK. Glad it was removed.

Sorry OT: I just wanted to clear that up! Now, back to the topic at hand......

does anyone (that has won or not) know when the thing expires that can be taken to DL or WDW? im taking a trip with my DD feb 12-19 and thought she might want to do the hidden mickey quest so she can redeem it when she goes to WDW. we did the 1st hidden mickeys but ended up giving our tour to someone who was going since we weren't able to go.

It below the single door on the left hand side on the outside of the Monorail. Specific locations for all the hidden mickeys should be in the Players Guide too.

I need help!!! I have 49 mickeys and can;t find the last one! According to the hints, there should be two in Splash Mountain: on a wall (I got) and "down below". I can not find the last one! Help!!!
