Hidden Mickey Cucumbers

Just finished this month's issue of "Budget Travel" and there was a little sidebar in there about how the Garden Grill is now serving Mickey shaped cucumbers in the salad. Apparently the cukes are grown in special molds that force them into the famous mickey icon. Just thought this was sort of cute.

We read about these before our trip in February....so we had lunch at the Garden Grill and ordered a salad. Of course, we were so excited to see mickey cucumbers, but alas, they were out of them! When mickey came to our table for a visit my daughter told him she wanted to try one of his cucumbers but the server said they were out, he stormed into the kitchen and brought out the chef and told her to explain to us!! It was very cute and funny....but if your reason for dining at the Garden Grill was like ours, ask first!!

I saw these growing in the plastic molds when I took the Behind the Seeds tour at The Land last December. They put the cucumber in the mold just as it begins to grow from the flower and it eventually fills the mickey shaped tube. Very Cool!
