Hidden DL Facts and Secrets

On the Winnie the Pooh ride in Critter Country, if you look up and behind you after passing through the Heffalumps and Woozles room, you will see the 3 figures from the wall from the old Country Bears show (Max, Buff, and ???)

You can also supposedly get a photocopy of an original Mara translator card for free from the shop across the way...just ask at the checkout. I've never had to ask, because I carry the last one I got in my wallet. The ride kept breaking down when it was new, so the cards were a great way to pass the time. Does anyone know why they changed to track of Indy? The last time I went as a kid, it was still entering the temple of Mara, but when I went back a couple of years ago as an adult, they had changed it to a more staid ride.

If I get you right you actually switch entrances to the "temple" depending on time, day and fullness. There are actually three "entrances" one is youth, one wealth and I believe the last fame. You never know which you will enter.

Indy does not have "track" as is common with most rides, it does have a simple leader to move the car but all the motion outside forward motion is created by the car itself. It is a very unique design to the ride and was passed on to WDW for Dinosaur.

I would love to get a decoder though I don't think I have tried to do that since the ride first opened!

I'm so glad I found this thread! We are going in September and will be celebrating our son's first birthday!!

7. A child had his brain crushed on Roger Rabbits Cartoon Spin, its still closed.

Are you sure about this one? I've never heard of it. It would have to have been recent for the RRCS to be closed because I was there a year ago and it was open.:confused3

The RRCS accident referred to happened in September 2000. The ride has been open each time I have gone over the last 4 years. It wasn't a ride malfunction, the child tried to reach down to grab something he dropped and fell.

I see....maybe that does sound vaguely familiar. He didn't pass away, right? But suffered terrible brain damage?

How horribly sad!! I can't imagine going to DL and having something awful happen to your child while there. :sad1:

I believe the cast member loaded the vehicle with the parent on the inside and the 4-year old on the outside. Also I don't think the ride vehicle had doors at the time and therefore the boy fell out.

Children are supposed to be placed on the inside. And now the vehicles have doors.

This is high end secret info :)

1. When you are on the Haunted Mansion you will hit the Birthday Party scene when all the ghosts are dancing around. On the table, are 3 plates shaped like a hidden Mickey, look fast.

2. If staying at a DLR hotel, you can request special things from Guest Services, like ressies at certain restraurants and events.

3. Next to the fire station at DL's entry point/ Town Square is the real "Walt Disney's Apartment" with the light on, it has been on 24/7.

4. At Tom Sawyers Island, the guns at the fort really fire (make sounds) a little girl lost part of her finger jumping down from the gun because her finger was stuck, and last but not least there is no food on the Island.

5. Someone was recently killed because a piece of metal broke off the Columbia ship while pulling away from the dock.

6. A CM was decapitated in the building which houses Innoventions.

7. A child had his brain crushed on Roger Rabbits Cartoon Spin, its still closed.

8. There is a vent that blows the smell of baked goods onto Main Street.

9. There is a private restraurant above New Orleans Square, meant to prop Walt friends, but it has become a club, Club 33, for the connected ones to dine and booze above the average Disneyland cits.

10. The statue of Walt and Mickey at the centerpiece of DL would be something that Walt would tear down, because he felt that the fantasy world should be separate from the mortal man that envisioned it.

I could go on, but I am not sure what you already know.

If you go to http://www.snopes.com you can read real stories/urban legends about Disney and Disneyland.

Some of the things stated above in bold are not entirely accurate.

This lists the actual deaths that have occured at Disneyand - http://www.snopes.com/disney/parks/deaths.asp

And this talks about the castmember killed on America Sings (innoventions building.) She was not decapitated. http://www.snopes.com/disney/parks/amersing.asp

As you walk through the castle, look down for a brass spike head in the ground - before Toontown, that was the exact center of Disneyland.

For the geocachers out there, this is one of three virtual cache's at DLR

haha sorry...i just read a few post up about it :) ignore this lol

omg a child had his brain crushed on roger rabbit??? anyone know any info on this? when?? how sad:sad2: i wont be riding that one again...

Wait, the CM in America Sings was not decapitated. She was killed by the moving stage walls though. The Columbia ship death occured in 1998 so it was not recent.

If you really want some great insight into Walt and his motivations for building Disneyland go check out the Steamers Foundation in Griffith Park, third Sunday of every month. They have Walt's Carolwood Railroad which he had in his back yard when he was alive and his collection of miniature trains as well as his personal barn and all the goodies inside. Check it out, it is a great piece of Walt and LA history.

Have you ever watched Tink fly down from the Matterhorn past the castle? Have you ever wondered where she landed? Well, ride Casey Jr. Circus Train and you'll see where she lands! They still catch her the old fashioned way - there's a big mattress against the back wall that softens the blow when she lands.

?

I can confirm this. We used to take new hires to go see this as a little Disney surprise :)
