Hi everyone  I'm back!!! :goodvibes

We had a brilliant time, we're all agreed it's been our best DLRP trip so far :wizard: and even having to spend the night at CDG airport  didn't diminish it in any way although was I glad to crawl into my bed last night!! ;)

Just going to catch up on the boards and all those mundane things like washing/ironing/shopping then I'll start my trippie. :goodvibes

glad to hear you all arrived back safely ...

we had a few problems coming back aswell and they where all at CDG aswell with check-in and delayed flights etc etc ... nightmare

cannot wait to hear your trippie ( must get round to doing ours ) :goodvibes

Shame about the hold-up at CDG but sounds like you all had a great time :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear about your trip Elaine. A night at CDG doesn't sound good though.

Shame about the trip home but at least it didnt dampen your holiday spirit.

Looking forward to hearing your trip report.

Lisa

A night at CDG doesn't sound good though.

It wasn't exactly my idea of fun :rotfl: but we have been well compensated. Enough to more than cover two more sets of return flights for all of us but DH wants to spend it on replacement windows.
Is the man mad??!!! :confused3 :scared1: :scared1:

I don't suppose it received any publicity here but there was absolute chaos at the airport with many flights cancelled. Although our original flight on Friday night was still going, many passengers were being bumped off as they were putting passengers whose earlier flights to other airports in the UK had been cancelled in their place. They were going to taxi us to Paris to put us on the Eurostar for the next day but several of the trains were cancelled and those that were running were full. At one point it looked like they were going to send us via Dusseldorf  but then they decided to bump off some passengers from the direct Saturday morning flight and put us on that one in their place. I do feel sorry for those people :guilty: but I don't think I could have faced another night on those chairs.

At one stage someone left an unattended bag in the terminal and it had to be partly evacuated!!

I can't fault Air France or the airport staff ~ they did their upmost to help us and kept us fed and watered. I just told the girls to treat it as a big adventure and not to worry, we would get into the UK somehow, even if it did mean going via Germany!! :rotfl2:

OMG what an adventure!!
I would say better on the return flight anyway, it would had been a lot worse if such a mess would had happened when you left for DLP wouldn't it??

Most definitely!! Who wants to rush home to unpacking/washing/ironing!! :rotfl2:

Hi Elaine,
Welcome back :) Glad you managed to get home in the end :thumbsup2 It was lovely to meet up with you

We had trouble getting home too - after getting majorly lost on the way back to Dieppe and worrying all the way that we wouldn't make the ferry, we arrived at the port to find our crossing had been cancelled and we ended up spending the night on a broken down ferry before getting on the next ferry at 10am yesterday morning. At least we had a bed for the night and we've got a voucher for another crossing for when we want to go back :yay:
I'm going to get going with the :laundy: and then write up my trip report.
Luv Suzy

Welcome back, it doesn't sound good about the return flight but at least you have been well compensated. I look forward to your trip report:thumbsup2

Nice to have you back Elaine, look forward to hearing all about it, thank goodness the airport delay was on the way back and at least you know that you have the compensation without having to make a fuss, I do like to hear about good Customer Service, it always seems so rare but Air France obviously have it.:thumbsup2

So now you have experienced Halloween and Christmas, which one gets your vote ?

I will be sending letters off this week ~ both Air France and CDG airport staff were exceptional IMO.

It's got to be Halloween. Although we loved Christmas and had the most magical time, Halloween has been such fun, fun, fun. :yay:

Glad you had a good time and dont seem too upset by the unexpected extra night.

What a horrible experience at the airport... that will be a trip you won't forget!

Sorry to hear about your CDG experience...i'm on your side re the replacement windows vs more tickets to DLRP!!! :rotfl2:

Sorry about the mess but it's good to hear that Air France treated you all well :) . We are flying out with very soon now! Can't wait to read your trippie :thumbsup2 .

Looking forward to hearing your halloween trip report ware bears, :)
I so enjoyed your previous Xmas ones, so much so it inspired us to go away for the whole Xmas last year.

(DS and DD still a bit too young for disney halloween  I think, but happy to be proved wrong!)

How old are your children excited mum?
We've just come back from our 1st DLP visit and our children are 5yrs and 4yrs old. They thoroughly loved the Halloween themeing, but obviously a lot depends on the indiviual nature of the children. DD (5) isn't scared of anything! however DS (4) can be scared of things (he was a bit scared of the dragon under the castle - didn't make a big fuss but didn't want to go back for a second visit iykwim), but he really enjoyed all the pumpkin men, pink witches and decorations.:thumbsup2

Oh thank you :flower3: I will try and start my trippie this week.

As Suzy said there's not really anything horribly scary at Halloween. The emphasis is definitely on fun rather than scaring people.
