Hello Disney Campers: Back to DIS WORLD IN OCT--Fort Wilderness

A bit of history: My wife (shirley 38) and I (john59) have been members of DIS BOARDS since 1999. New to the Camping forum. Most posts that we had were on the Collectors Board.
We were big time DIS PIN collectors, starting in 1976. Our collection was around 8000 Disney Pins. My wife was a ferocious TRADER.

We purchased a 5th wheel in June and this forum is the place to be. I will have a zillion 'what ifs' along the way.

I kinda retired (nobody retires), but in my 2nd life I am a Girls' HS Basketball Coach, just outside of the Chocolate Capitol of the World, Hershey PA. I guess we needed something between B-Ball seasons. Hey !! CAMPING WORKS

This board is answering more questions on Camping, than the 3 1/2 hour RV course my wife and I took. Soon I wiill be posting my 'what ifs'--john59

John and family, let me welcome ya'll to the camping board ! :thumbsup2
It's really nice to meet newbies. Feel free to ask questions,,we all had to ask .
You'll like the folk here they are pretty cool. And speaking on my behalf,,some of us can be a little tiny bit strange,,nope thats not it,,freaky, nope not it either,,odd, nope,,,oh well you'll figure it out after while.

Hey, when you were a girls ball coach, if they play'd a good game did they get chocolate afterwards ?

Sounds like one heck'ava pin collection ! I think we have about 10 pins.
And congrats on your new 5th wheel,,PACK A FISHING POLE IN IT !

WELCOME !

When my wife figures out that the Queen Bed lifts in the 5th wheel for storage, she is going to find 3 fly rods and 11 various size spinning rods (ultra light to a 12 ft, break in half, surf stick)

i'm new to the dis forums but been camping in 5th wheel for years. hopefully we can all learn supthin. you'll enjoy the camper at ft wilderness and lots of other places. :smickey:

Welcome to all the newbs. I was one myself once :rolleyes1

Once you camp at the Fort during your WDW stay, you won't stay any other way. When you make a ressie then you can pepper us with questions.

Read the FAQ sticky post on the top of the forum - lots of good info there. Read some of Tri-Circle-D's (abbreviated as TCD) posts - he's a Florida guy who goes often and posts LOTS of pictures so you can see what to expect.

There's always turnover in our little group here so you are quite welcome to join in the fray. The community board is where some of the ol' crotchity types hang out but their bark is worse than their bite.

The poster Stacktester is the Honorary Mayor of Fort Wilderness so his posting contain trustworthy information (well, at least most of the time-you know how those politicians are). Shan-Man is a wiz with that IT google-mapping stuff and an artist (although I understand he primarily uses a Mac). Big Daddy Rog will make you a name sign when you are ready to fly the nest to the Fort.

So enjoy and glad to have you with us.

WELCOME. I guess I am still considered a newbie here in the camping forum but I feel like I already know so many of these folks! We all have varied Disney likes and disclikes and experiences from our journeys to the most magical place on earth so hop aboard and enjoy the ride!!

Oh, and we LOVE our 5th wheel camper, too! So much in fact that we just moved into it today for 3 weeks in our own back yard......(we are remodeling our kitchen)

Happy Trails!

Hello, :wave2: and :welcome:
to the camping forum! pixiedust: You're gonna love it here. ::yes::

Lil' Lisa has a wonderful plan. We took our camper (when new) for the first trip out to the state park campground (which happens to be less than a mile from our house). We kept a list of things that we needed to put in the camper and home was close by to obtain things that couldn't be done without on that weekend. Our second trip was to the Fort and we were prepared. Now we're getting ready to go to the Fort again next month, we LOVE it. :woohoo:

Just wanted to say welcome to the camping board. You've come to the perfect place to have questions about WDW and/or camping answered!

Welcome to the farm. The nut farm, that is. :cool1:

I have to admit that I agree. The best way to go from one B-ball season to the next is to camp your way through it. And if you can't actually be camping, then hanging out with this bunch is the next best thing.

Enjoy the party.

howdy neighbor!
We are about an hour southwest of you, Gettysburg area. Family has season passes to Hershey so we are up in your neck of the woods almost every weekend.

We are planning our first trip to the Fort for next April.

Welcome aboard!!!

Sounds like you may have bought your 5er at Tom Schaeffer's - they always have an evening RV orientation for new owners and they are just down the road from you in Hamburg.

By the way, I prefer to consider myself eccentric, none of the other adjectives the others used.

One of the first things you must learn to do if camping at the fort is how to mix a kungaloosh.

Will you be there between the 23rd and 30th of October? A lot of us will be there then, although I will be staying offsite this time. I am hoping to get together at the Fort with as many Diser's as I can, however.

You are not eccentric---You got it all right !!!!! Tom Schaeffers was the RV dealer that reeled us in and they had the RV seminar. Learning to fly visual flight rules was a lot easier. We arrive at Ft Wilderness Oct 11th. I will probably miss you, but maybe someday me and the wife can buy you a kungaloosh----mixing up one sounds like it could be hazordous to your well being !!!!!!!

My husband there is no help for him. He's a great Basketball coach but is completing lost when it comes to posting.,
He just posted a quote to ft wildernessguy under my user name Shirley 38.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
