Hi! I'm from Maryland and have only posted a few times on DisBoards. I have been to Disney World several times in the past 10 years. Our next trip is in January 2010. I am traveling with my husband and my 2 year old son. We usually try to go to Disney once a year, but we haven't been to Disney since January of 2008 and it is killing me. We decided not to take a trip this year, because of the economy and also because having a new baby is expensive. (ha ha) Anyway, I find myself thinking about all things Disney. My son loves watching all of the movies. Though I need other ideas on how to keep the magic alive for me during the next 8 months until we go. We use to go to our local Rain Forest Cafe in Baltimore to get that cool feeling, but it has recently closed down. What cool and cute little ideas do you do for yourself and for your family that keep you sane while waiting for your trip?

For starters keep coming in here!!!!

:welcome: to the DIS!

I agree, coming here will feed your addiction. Also, start planning your trip by using the resources here and at the main part of the site www.wdwinfo.com

Yes, I have been looking through the site. It is very informative. I have thought of some fun ideas to do for my family while we wait for our trip to draw nearer. Some examples of what I am going to do are as follows:

1) send my husband Disney e-cards via computer
2) buy Mickey toaster that puts the picture of Mickey right on the toast (how fun breakfast will be now - ha ha)
3) Disney movie night with my son
4) was going to do Rain Forest Cafe for dinner some time, but our location in Baltimore recently closed it's doors (bummer truly!!)
5) order the customized Disney World park maps that they offer on their website. And they are free!!!
6) just ordered the free vacation video
7) email old photos to my husband from vacations past to spark that happy feeling

That should tide us over for a while. Now all I need to do is figure out how to get the count down / time line underneath my signature. We are going in January and it would be fun to have that on my signature. I know I saw instructions on someone's psot before, but if you all wouldn't mind giving them to me again, I would be greatly appreciative.

I planned our Disney vacation only 6 weeks out, so we don't have very long to keep the excitement alive. I ordered the Disney Vacation planning DVD ages ago and my kids (ages 11 & 6) have been watching it over and over. Great free way to build up the excitement! We also have the Disney Scene It game and have been playing it every week. Fun game and it's helped all of us get familiar again with all the Disney characters and movies. Looking at old pictures from previous trips has also been a fun activity. My youngest son and I have been walking in the evenings (to try and build his stamina) and we pretend we're racing to get in line at some of our favorite rides. lol We also have a Disney countdown calendar on the fridge for the boys to cross off days. Best of luck keeping the magic alive!

Those are great ideas. I didn't even think about the Disney Scene It game nor did I think about a countdown calendar for the fridge. That sounds like a fun idea. Thanks for the input. When are you heading back to Disney World? We go in January 2010.

I booked our trip May 1st for September. I made a calendar on poster board. My kids (6&10) put Disney stickers on the calendar each day as a way to count down. The closer we get to Disney the better the calendar looks! Every once in a while I make Mickey pancakes for breakfast.

Because my kids are older, I made a chore chart. They can earn Disney Dollars that I bought at the Disney Store.

For our trip we took this past May, it was only DH and I but we were both super excited!!! Things I did were:
-made a poster countdown and hung on the wall
-did a Pre-trip report on here to talk about our trip with all disers and to get tips and suggestions about various parts of our trip
-did a little shopping a couple times a month for the trip (this was nice b/c it was wasn't a big hit on the budget at one time)
-cooked different disney recipies from allears.net
-did a countdown for ADR's and made those ressies at 90days
-make a disney planner
I liked all these ideas b/c they could be stretched out for several weeks or months even. Have fun planning!!! I think planning is just as fun as the trip it self!!!

Hi---I feel your pain!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I had disney separation anxiety myself. Thank goodness that dh decided to surprise me with the trip...see how I said me and not the kids..hehe dh says that I am worse than the girls when it comes to disney...as for something to do----if you recorded your last trip---get the popcorn-lower the temp in ur home and watch all of your recordings from disney. make it a family movie-night. if not-get the pictures out- go to ur local book store and seek for disney books. sit down and browse through them. I live in PA but I drove down to NYC for the World of disney store. Can you believe that they have Disney characters there--such as the princesses and cpt hook. they also have photo-pass there and you can pose with the characters and take pictures,,again all things disney.
I wish you fun in seeking a time killer---All things disney..hehehe:goodvibes:goodvibes

WELCOME to the DIS!

We live just North of Baltimore in Harford County so "Hi, Neighbor!" To help our Disney withdrawal we visit the Disney Store at White Marsh mall or the World of Disney in NYC (they no longer have the characters there though as a PP stated).

Are you flying out of BWI? Southwest just released dates thru Jan 8th (I think) with fares as low as $49 each way. :thumbsup2

Are you going to be getting the DDP? If so then take the time to read the menus and decide which restaurants you want to eat at. Make sure to mark your calendar for the 90 day mark so you can call and make your ADRs.

I wonder if there are disney music CDs that play some of the background music in the parks. Kinda how Christmas music get syou ready for christmas, Disney music gets you ready for WDW!

I just thought of something else! I like to also listen to free disney podcasts on Itunes.

Hello! We are in Dundalk (Baltimore County). No we are not flying, we are driving. Yes, we are doing the DDP. I have searched for food posts on the disboards, where people post pictures of their meals and tell you which restaurant, but haven't found any yet. I know there is a link, I'm just not that good at navigating the board yet.

Are you planning a trip soon?

My son would love this idea. He is a sticker freak. Though it may be hard for him to post the stickers on the poster board instead of his face. He loves wearing stickers all over his face and arms. (ha ha) He is 2 years old!

Cooking different recipes from the allears.net sounds very interesting and a lot of fun. My husband is a much better cook than me, so if al works out, I can get the "flavor" of Disney without actually having to do any work. (ha ha) What a nice thought. Thanks!

Oh yes! I have been to the New York City "World of Disney" store. Isn't it amazing. Every toy store should look like that. It is so magical just walking through the doors. They also have some unique toys and gifts that I never saw at any Disney parks or my regular Disney store at my local mall. I live in Baltimore, MD and go to NYC every year for Christmas shopping.

Does anyone know how I can pull quotes from multiple posts? I wasn't sure how to do it, so I basically went to each person's post and made all of my replies separately. Any help would be appreciated.
