Thought it was about time I joined up and said "hi". My wife and I made the move to Florida last year - precipitated by YEARS of regular Disney trips, dreaming, wishing, and hoping.

We're now fortunate enough to work and live where we've always dreamed. We're huge Disney (and theme park) fans.

As we've moved down from up north, we haven't found any friends here yet, so I thought I'd sign up here, so I can get my fix for talking Disney, and meet some great people.

It's a pleasure to meet you all!

Hello, and welcome to the Dis! :goodvibes Now that you live so close, you can go to the 'World as often as you like ;)

Thanks for the welcome Bearcatsfan. Believe me, we do! Since getting our resident's pass, we typically go every weekend.

I see you're coming down in another 5 months - congrats! What's your favorite park?

WELCOME! I signed up very recently as well! I am anxiously awaiting a response from the college program. My girlfriend and I are huge Disney fans and just love everything Disney. We are now trying to figure out how we can move ourselves to Orlando. We aren't very far, only about 4 hours? We live in South Florida.

I'm glad you decided to join the forums, I see so much positivity on these forums they are just a great place to communicate.

Well I wish you best of luck on everything you do and hope your days are filled with magic!

Must be great! We have family that lives in the area, so we come down as often as possible ... wouldn't be complete without a trip to WDW ;) We have talked about moving down there, but that's all it has been thus far - just talk.

We are looking forward to our upcoming trip for sure. Our second stay in a resort hotel - POFQ this time. Hoping it is as nice as it looks in the photos.

My favorite park would have to be MK. I get goosebumps walking down Main Street every single time. Doesn't matter how many times I go, I still get the goosebumps!

How about you? And since you're there every weekend, any restaurants you recommend over others?

Thanks for the warm welcome Xithryl - pleasure to meet you. My wife and I started our Disney fan careers on our honeymoon, and have been hooked ever since (14 years later). South Florida's not bad, you can make it up for weekends!

Wishing you luck and success in your endeavors as well!

Nice to have family down here - makes accommodations so much easier ;) . Sounds like where my wife and I were at a few years back - dreaming of moving down. I hope it becomes a reality for you, if you decide that's what you want to do!

I hear you on the MK comments - my wife always (yes still) cries if we're there for opening - the parade, train arrival, music on Mainstreet. Though I'm somewhat partial to Epcot :)

Hmm, restaurants? In the parks, we like Pecos Bill's in MK, Morocco in Epcot, Flame Tree BBQ or Yak & Yeti in AK. As far as on site restaurants, Boma in AK Lodge is absolutely amazing! Off site, if you're okay with a bit of a drive (approx 20 mins from the resorts), try Manny's Steakhouse, but go early or late. If you like authentic southern bbq, try Smokin' Jim's in Winter Haven - definitely worth the drive!!

Sorry, I'm rambling now - see what happens when I talk about Disney and food??

I really like EPCOT. DH and I haven't been there in years, so we put it on our itinerary for this time around.

Thank you for the recommendations - appreciate it! :goodvibes Sounds like you would have much to add over on the Restaurant and Orlando Area boards - be sure to jump on over there and join in the conversation ;)

Epcot is awesome, especially now that they have the new Tequila bar in the Mexico pavilion!

Have you guys ever "drank the world"?

I'll add my welcome to both of you "newbies" and say congrats on realizing your dream, Landscaaper! Our oldest son just accepted a job that will move him from Ohio to Ft. Myers. He's super excited, but won't start until mid May. We've already told him to get a place with a guest room:rolleyes1 My DH and I would like to move close to Disney, but I don't know if I can stand the heat! But we sure love to visit the Mouse and his friends! May you continue to enjoy your new location!:goodvibes
