I just wanted to say hi, I'm Disney-Kim's sister. She posted some questions for me, thank you all for the info!! I am planning on getting marrierd at Sunset Pointe May 2007, just me, finance, sister & bro-in law, just a short and sweet ceremony. I am planning on doing the intimate wedding and just the 4 of us so no reception but will have a nice dinner afterwards. Does anyone know where the closest city hall is to get your marriage liscense and how long it takes? Any advice on the wedding is very much appreciated. I am going to call Disney tomorrow and speak with someone, I just decided yesterday to get married there, we were going to do it on the beach in Hawaii but decided on Disney instead.

Congrats!!!

We used A Wedding For You. They were great. We did it all by mail, then when it was done they sent it to our EM so we didn't have to worry about losing the license or leaving it home on the big day.

I did Sunset Pointe, and as a backup site for Hawaii it's perfect. I'm sure you'll love it.

melmel thank you so much for that information that will work out great!! I was wondering how early I would have to fly in, in order to get the license so that is what we will do!!

Welcome to the DIS. It's (almost always) a very friendly, knowledgeable place. :cloud9:

Congratulations! :cheer2:

Hello! And congratulations!! :wave2:

There's A LOT of help and information here on the DIS.

My DF and I will be getting married at Sunset Pointe this upcoming January. Having been reading up on whatever I can on Sunset Pointe, I have been reading recently that DFTW has started restricting weddings there between the months of March and October due to the discomfort of heat and other incremental weather.

Of course, it's best to discuss it with the folks at DFTW. But I wanted to make a quick mention of it!

Looking forward to hearing about all your plans!!

We got our license from the courthouse at Downtown Orlando. It took us about 30 minutes.
We had to get a taxi here though as we didn't have a hire car for that week (we stayed on international drive for our first weeks holiday) and it cost us $100. I wish I had used 'a wedding for you' as it would have been hassle free.

Congratulations anyhow and a very warm welcome.

Welcome to the Dis! :) Congratulations on your upcoming wedding--I'm sure you'll find everything you need to know (and more) about Disney on these boards. ;)

A big welcome and  to you. You ve made a great decision in joining the Dis boards :woohoo: . Everyone here is full of great advice, this board is like one big extended Disney family!!!! :cloud9:

Starseed mentioned Sunset Pointe being restricted during the summer months which i have also heard a bout. I want a May wedding at Sunset Pointe but read that due to the extreme heat that Disney will no longer be offering the location for safety reasons :sad2: . I still would check with Disney as it will burst my bubble if i can't get that location. Still there are soooo many other beautiful locations that im sure somewhere else would be just as amazing. Or you could always move the wedding slightly forward if your hearts set on that location.

When you find out if the restriction on Sunset Pointe is true Pleeease share it with us so all us Brides to be know.

Well lots of :shamrock: & pixiedust: sent your way, cant wait to hear all your ideas.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and the info!! It is true, I just spoke with Disney and they do not offer Sunset Pointe wedding except bewteen the months of Oct - March. :guilty: It is due to the heat. Now I am not sure what I want to do. Does anyone have any information on wedding at The Swan and Dolphin?

COngratulations on the wedding, and welcome to the DIS

Tink-2007:

Thankyou for letting us all know about the bad news of Sunset Pointe being no longer available during the summer months :sad2: . I was kind of hoping that it was just a rumour as it looked such a beautiful location. Still i can understand Disney's reasons & i guess if your health comes in to danger due to the heat then its understandable.

Are you planning to stick with the location & just having the wedding earlier or later that year or have you decided to go with another location??
I think we re gonna go with the Wedding Pavillion, the back drop of Cinderellas Castle is spectacular. What can beat seeing that whilst your reading your vowels! :cloud9:
