Hi, everyone I just became a member of these boards and I love it, everyone here is so nice with all of the information they give. It's nice to find people that are as happy and cheerful as those cast members in disney. I called central reservations today because I'm pretty new at this and was told to buy an Annual Pass for this year. I am told it also comes with a discounted room rate, I am thinking about going in June if anyone has any information on how much they paid last June or about how much it should cost that'd be great! I'm just trying to figure it out for budgetary reasons. Thanks again!

Welcome to the Dis! The AP will get you an attractive discount on some rooms at WDW. Whether or not it's smart to purchase an AP depends on the length of your planned stay, and if you plan to return. Can you give us more details, please?:earsboy:

Welcome! We are also going in June. I hope there will be code released for everyone to use even without an AP. I am not allowed to have one anymore as I get a bit too obsessed(but that's another story;) ) Anyway after the holidays is the most likely time for them to be released. :teeth:

Sorry, I plan on going from either June 10-20 if the rate falls under $130 or June 10-24 or longer if the rate falls under $100. The cast member told me being that the UPH would be more than $400 for that stay it makes sense for me to buy a AP. I just hope that they throw some kind of sale on rooms for the summer. How much do you think it will be? If the rate is better than I thought, I don't mind staying at a deluxe. LOL

I think at day 8 the AP starts to become cost effective. The AP rates vary but are generally among the deepest discounts available. You know the resort rates vary widely depending on the view/season/amenities. You might do a little research here on the Dis or allears.net regarding room rates and what discounts are available in June. I think it will be difficult to get the maximum AP discount (around 40%) in June. To get the best rate, it would probably be best to book now. If something better comes along before June, you can always change.

There is no need to buy an Annual Pass to make an AP reservation. I suggest instead of buying it beforehand, wait until the AP rates come out for the time you're going and if you can get a good deal, make your reservation at the AP rate. You don't need the AP until check in (though it's not always asked for at that time) so you can purchase it the day you get there just before check in.

I'd hate for somebody to buy an AP and not get an AP hotel rate and have no use for that AP after one trip that's less than 8 days (or whatever you determine the breakeven point to be given the current AP rate at that time).

To ensure you get a room for the timeframe you're going, go ahead and reserve one ahead of time at whatever the going rate is. You can always change to an AP rate up to about a week before provided AP rates are available.

You're all right, I'm sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, I am new to this whole thing and usually go through a travel agent. I'm kinda scared for booking the room because last year when we went through her, she charged us full rack rate at the GF which was over $300 a night and then a month before we went the room rates with the summer discount were about $200-225. And I really could have saved alot of money on doing this myself. Should I perhaps prep myself for a $100-$150 a night room rate at one of the moderates, and if so should I book now? Thanks alot guys, you have all been a great amount of help!

With our AP we paid $79 at POR and $49 at AllStars last June. But boy, was it hot..never going back in June LOL!

If you use some of the online "disney specialist" travel agents like www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com or www.themagicforless.com they will check for discounts for you. They will make a ressie wjen you are ready. Then, if discount code come out, the automatically call to try and get the reduced rate.

Have fun!!

Check out MouseSavers.com You can find the discounts that are available for spring and a history of what came out last year. The AP discount will most likely be the best but there may be room only codes too. Most likely values will be somewhere between $49 - $79 and the Mods will be around $89 maybe a bit more. In the past they have offered 2 nights free when you buy 5 with the Dreammaker package. Although I haven't seen that since last Nov. If you book now book only what you care to spend and then the discount will just be a nice bonus! Try to think of the planning as part of the fun! :teeth: Don't worry you'll learn so much here you won't need an agent!:D
