Hi Everyone,

as the title says - I just got engaged. lol! I got engaged on Dec 14th and I was able to get my girl friend at the time to turn on the osborne spectacle of lights... well that's enough about me.

I was just wondering about any ideas that people can just randomly give me about what we can do for our wedding as my parents and her parents arent being very helpful!

First off, we live in Miami, FL I am currently unemployed (waiting on an interview from a job I applied to) as I was going full time to the Fire academy and my Fiance is a waitress at a restaurant. she wanted to get married in WDW but we looked at most of the prices online and what some friends were telling us from when they looked at the prices a few years ago. I personally would love to do the wedding in WDW but I think and believe that we do not have enough money! I told my Fiance that maybe in like 1 1/2 we will get married because I want to either be hired as a fireman or have a steady job and enough money to put a down payment on a job. she has been coming up with like a million ideas about the wedding and I really don't know how to tell her that everything she wants and inviting people that you EXTREMELY RARELY see and they're part of you're family is just wasting money and we don't even have enough money for that if it comes to it. lol! I just feel bad. how can I tell her? I know this is like the biggest day for a woman but I'm going crazy she's talking about having a ceremony like on the beach (Poly or BC) and the flowers will be orchids and the colors will be turquoise/white or gold. All I asked for that I wanted in this wedding is that there be something star wars in which I already know what it is. My mom made me and my friends which are going to be my grooms men these star wars jedi capes a while back and we will wear those on top of our dress stuff if anything. but I have no idea she's driving me crazy and I don't think she realizes that we probably wont have enough money to get married at a cool place down here in miami!

Please help me someone... I'm sorry if there is a lot of grammar errors I'm :scared1: ready to pull out my hair!

First of all, congratulations!

Have you looked at the Memories package Disney now offer? It's much more affordable for people on a budget and offers some great locations with a limited guest list, so you won't need to worry about inviting people who you don't see very often.

You can find more information on the boards or by taking a look at the website:

Good luck with the planning and with your training!

Whoa. Take a deep breath and relax ... you are engaged and this is a happy time.

Please remember that your fiancee has probably been thinking about this event her whole life, and it's really difficult to not let yourself get swept up in the excitement. Let her look through magazines, watch wedding shows, and put her ideas to paper. This is step one. Step two (and much less fun) is sitting down and taking a serious look at the budget and guest list. Then you will know what ideas are realistic for you.

Take a look through the TRs and PJs on this site and you will see lots of people have WDW weddings on a budget. Whatever you do will be amazing because it will be your special day! :goodvibes

Congrats! My boyfriend proposed to me on Dec. 17th at Disney's Vero Beach Resort. I was kind of hoping he'd do it at the Osborne lights too, but it was amazing. I thnk we were actually at Hollywood Studios that night you got engaged!

Congrats!!
We were on a budget when we started planning as well, but had more guests than the Disney package we could afford. We ended up going with a Swan and Dolphin wedding. You may want to check it out :) The prices are very reasonable. Check out my pj, or the swan and dolphin link. I've listed the prices

Firstly, Congratulations!

Let her go crazy with the planning. Let her get her feelers out there and see what exactly it is she wants at this wedding. Then is the time to sit down and look realistically at the budget/time/space constraints.

There are plenty of planning journals by Disbrides here that have crazy amounts at first, but they can adjust and make the budget much more wallet-friendly.

Congrats to you too! I actually went up there with some very good friends of ours which they had the ring with them and they went to HS ahead of us as we had just got there that morning and we wanted a little break (it was like 1pm) so my best guy friend called me and told me to get to the front desk of my resort and to tell them that I was proposing and if they could call HS and ask if they had someone to turn on the lights and they said no and they told me that in my case since they haven't chosen anyone yet and I was proposing they would let me do it. lol! so in front of like a MILLION people I did it! i almost didn't because I was soooooo nervous in front of all those people! I know I forgot to ask will you marry me. lol! I just said BAAAAABBBBEEEEEE!!!!! I love you!!! now this floor is freezing and my knee hurts! can you pick me up please!

What is a TR and a PJ?

I will definitely look at those in the link asap, Thank you very much,

First of all, congrats! Being engaged is such an exciting time :)

As others have said, let her explore wedding options, but before you actually make any sort of commitment to anything you need to come up with a budget plan. That means figure out who is contributing money and how much, and how much you want to spend on what. There are lots of wedding planning books that can help you figure this out - I have the Bridal Passport Wedding Planner book, designed for people on a budget. After that you need to try your best to stay at the budget! But there are lots of cool and creative little touches that you can add to your wedding once you get started, so she'll have plenty to do and plan. And if you're doing a Disney wedding or even just a Disney themed wedding, definitely check these boards regularly, as they've been really helpful!
