Hello from Northwest Indiana! I am an obsessed travel-planner and am glad I happend upon the DisBoards! I am looking to take my DD in January (she will turn 10 in December) and am anxiously awaiting the release of the 2011 rates so I can get on with my life! LOL My only negative reaction to my planning so far was realizing I am going to have to pay adult prices for DD to be on the dining plan this time (so not right... she'll never eat that much...) and hoping Disney decides to get a little crazy in January and just have the free dining then as well!
Looking at staying at either Pop Century or Caribbean Beach (DD's choice) or Coronado Springs (MY choice) on upcoming trip.
Thanks Guys and Gals!

Just a thought, did you think of not spending the money on the dining plan for DD and let her just order and pay from the kids menu when you go. Anyone can order a kids meal, no matter what age.

I did - but everybody in your party has to be on the same MYW package. Thought about lying about her age but that stuff always comes back to bite me in the booty! :scared:

I've been crunching numbers the past few days and now I'm just trying to figure out if we should go QSD and just pay for a character meal OOP or go for it and get the DDP and then have to deal with gratuities, but be able to do all the character meals and Ohana!LeCellier!WhisperingCanyonCafe! (I'm a foodie...). :confused3

Welcome!

You could go ahead with the Dining Plan, pay OOP for her kids meals and then use her credits to dine at one or more of the Signature Restaurants and/or the Dinner Shows that require 2 credits per person. Since she will have adult credits that is a perfectly acceptable way to use them. This way you won't have to pay the adult price OOP for any buffet/family style dining meals for her, and you can enjoy some of the more expensive options without breaking the budget!

ETA: There is a rumor that LeCellier may become a 2TS credit meal for next year.

:welcome: I feel your pain about the 10 yr old adult DDP. Our next trip with the kids DD will be 10, so we either are going to rush down on spring break before she turns 10 or wait till she is 11 or 12 to do DDP again. She just can't eat enough to justify that cost and her current palate pleasers of chicken nuggets and fries certainly isn't worth $40 a day!
