We've been to HHN in the past & know why it is not recommended for small children! Super scary!! I was just wondering for those of you who go yearly or often, do you see small children or even babies at HHN? If so, do they act terrified & are the parents even dazed? It seems like we may have seen some younger kids when we went to 16 but they were maybe 9 or 10.

I've seen infants, kids in strollers and small walking children there. Just because you see them there and not screaming like banshees doesn't mean they won't be having nightmares. You can't predict what children will do which is why they don't recommend bringing them in.

I've seen small children in the past and it really makes me mad. Universal goes out of it's way to let people know it's not for kids and yet you always hear stories of angry parents going to Guest Services and yelling at the TMs because they had no idea what HHN was. I don't think it's fair for the TMs to have to take that abuse...but I guess it comes with the job. Bottom line is...if you have small children and you want to go to HHN, leave them with a friend, relative or babysitter...please.

I went last yr and did not see any kids that I remember.

The only reason I could see not bringing kids would possibly be because some ppl get drunk and act routy.(Although I didn't see this).

Going last yr I thought it was rather amusing and didn't see anything that would particularly terrify someone of sound mind. It was just dark and ppl saying Boo. So imo it would depend on the kid and how well advanced he/she is moreso then the actual age of them.

Couldn't have said it any better!!

Exactly. I guess not that many people care about the "this event may be too intense for children" wording. :scared1:

And are the parents of these children, kids in strollers paying the 70sh dollar admission tickets for them too? wow.

I guess since tickets are being bought (main concern for USF), whether an adult or child, USF will not turn away young ones.

I've never seen any children at the event when I've attended. If adults scream and run for their lives -per say, I really doubt a child can handle the extreme scares that make up HHN. On the website they state that it's not recommended for 13 and under and there is a reason for that.

Yet I did not flinch once there. I saw some teenage girls running and screaming but for the most part it was rather tame event.

I am sure certain kids can handle it and I don't understand those who would judge on another persons parenting just because they bring them to an event like this.

I think it should be done with consideration in what the child can handle and if they are found not to be able to handle it they should remove them from the situation. But I doubt any of this will scar a child for life no matter what the age.

I see tons of babies and kids, but I go on almost all non-peak nights so I have a lot more chances to see them. Poor things are usually freaking out. I think there should be a family services rep. stationed at the event to arrest the idiots who bring them.

Well both of my kids definitely went to HHN before they were 13 but they had been to other Halloween-themed events before that. Not wimpy stuff like MNSSHP, we're talking parks and houses themed by the likes of Tom Savini. HHN is actually a lot tamer than a lot of Halloween events around the country. Where it excels is in theming and detail, not scaring you or grossing you out.

I hate when people bring little kids. It affects the rest of us also in our experiences in the houses. It seems when scareactors see small children in the house that the scareactors tone down their scares. So if you are beside someone who decided to bring their 4 year old, you won't get the maximum scares.

You must have a thick skin. I am a 37 year old woman and have tried on 2 occasions to go to HHN and both times I ended up leaving in less then 20 minutes because I was terrified.
My son (who is now 18) goes every year and would not miss it for his life.
I guess its just a matter of what one can take on a scare level.

Either way, kids should not be there!

This comes up every year...

Every child is different. If they can handle the gore/scares/sex/crowds/alcohol and they know that it's all fake/effects/makeup and that the scary people WILL go after anyone, then it's Your Call.

And I have seen strollers, 4-10 year olds sitting on a bench crying, 8 year olds loving every minute of it, 20-somethings having breakdowns, etc.

We are taking our 13 year old. He LOVES Halloween, haunted houses, and horror. Me...not so much. This is a personal, parental decision, and only parents know what their child's individual maturity levels are, and how they will relate to, handle, and process things like this, but for me, I would not have taken him any younger. He's old enough now, I can let loose the reins a little and let him have some fun. Not sure how "scary" it will be, but he has already been to several premier haunted houses in our area, and really enjoys every minute!

I'm 41, and I might be the one shivering in fear. He will be comforting ME!

Does anyone have a little kid I can borrow? :rotfl: I go because my husband loves it, but it scares the heck out of me!

It's been 5 years since I've been...going in 3 weeks..but I saw a young mother...probably teenage, carrying a very young baby (weeks old) into a house...I know the baby didn't know what was going on, but people are screaming and lets face it..people will push you if they're scared. Not smart. scared me just seeing it...guess the baby was admitted free and she wanted to go be with her friends. :confused3

I saw a young mother carrying a baby in a blanket into HHN last year, I was so shocked. As you say it wouldn't know what was going on but the noise etc makes it totally unsuitable.

I've also seen strollers with blankets over them and young kids in tears but also fairly young kids loving the event.

You wanna see kids at an inappropriate event? Howl-O-Scream is way worse than HHN. I saw so many strollers last night that I thought I was at the Magic Kingdom. And yep, a tiny baby being held in a blanket too.
