HHN options

We will be in Universal Oct. 8-12. I believe the HHN will be going on. What are my options as far as tickets go? We are staying on site. Is it possible to get the add on for $30.oo and still leave the parks because we have the stay and play tix? Or do I have to buy the full price tix?
