#1) Will onsite sell out?

If so, anyone know "when" it usually happens? or how long can i delay the inevitable deposit

#2) Other than AAA (if available) are there ever any other deals/specials during that time?
already got my 1st scare of the weekend searching the room rates:scared1: :rotfl:

The only reason I book early is to ensure my suite upgrade. I think the only problem with waiting is that some room types might sell out. This October, I remember seeing no Garden view/std view rooms at HRH or RPR for certain weekends. Suites were also sold out early. This year, they did offer the Super Saver rate during October, which was pretty good if I remember correctly. My problem was that they would not let me change to the SS rate and keep my suite upgrade so I was stuck with the AAA rate.

thanx jodie!

glad to hear about super saver possibility...we're happy in a standard room so no problemo if it'd work out:thumbsup2

cannot believe the least expensive standard lodging, all inclusive; came up $338/night:sad2: maybe they just set them high to see if we bite lol

Wait a minute! For real?! What are your dates? What do you mean by all-inclusive? Do you mean it inlcudes park tickets or HHN tickets? Are do you just mean with tax? Do you have an AP? They might offer an AP discount as well. If you don't have an AP, at the very least, I can buy your HHN tickets when I buy mine with the AP discount.

nope, all inclusive = 13% tax plus room rate @ only available resort w/AAA discount

we've got the AP (bogo year free - woohoo; perhaps closer to the date -yet it was less than AAA for last June & early Dec)

looked on AAA website Saturday night, for last weekend in Oct (Fri & Sat prior to halloween), not sure of the dates offhand.

of course i was enjoying a few miller lites:rotfl: perhaps a case of BWI (booking while intoxicated)

will check again later tonight...forgot i've got to run out to radio shack & return the useless camcorder charger they sold me before they balk.

OK, think your trouble may be only booking 2 nights and weekend nights at that (and then kiss the Super Saver rate good bye since that is usually only good for 3 or more nights, with the best deal being 5 nights). Super Saver rate won't do you much good. I did go to the netbooker site (which you can find the link in the first page of my upgrades primer -- it's so hard to post without it being cached). Anyway, the RPR doesn't have an AAA rate available (I am assuming you're doing a 10/24 - 10/26 stay?). RPR is $259/night., which at 12.5% taxes puts it at $291.38/night. Still high. If you extend your stay till Monday, AAA will give you a 15% discount. So, Friday and Saturday would be $247.67 (tax included) and Sunday night would be $233.33 (again with tax included). Guess they aren't allowing AAA discounts just for the weekend?

maybe i'll lop a day off WDW (although we're booked @ WL & i luvs it so;) ) and try for 3 days beginning Thursday?

will let you know what i find

forgot AAA travel is selling prepaid including taxes for RPR only; just hate to pay up front for the whole trip, then get stuck with cancellation fee if i find a better deal.

probably will just book onsite somewhere @ AAA just to have a room to rest our heads.

Janet, just call (888) 273-1311, and have them check AAA rates for you for whatever dates you pick. This way, you only get charged one night's deposit, and then you have up until 5 days before your trip to cancel without any penalty whatsoever. Then, if AP rates come out, you just call the same #, and have them change your rate (provided the room type you want is available). You do not need to go through AAA to book AAA rates. Bonus: you'll get your LF Gold upgrade applied to water view. Tell them you want the same room number you had 12/1.

We'll be there at the HRH that weekend. Haven't booked it yet, but I will after Christmas! We had a blast at the HRH this past October during HHN.

We were there that weekend this year. Booked early and when the supersaver rate came in phoned Universal and they reduced our rate accordingly. Only thing I would say is, loved the vibe at HRH, but wasn't so keen on the large number of guests locked out of their room by their mates (for whatever reason:thumbsup2 ) and partying in the corridors at 1.30 am, high on the atmosphere of HHN. HRH Management were great and saild they had never received so many noise complaints and to cut a very long story short, gave us our 3rd night free. Consequently going back to HRH this August but will definately avoid HHN in the future!

Also, might add, availability non existent roughly about 2 weeks before departure and hotel full to capacity - so my advice book early and reduce rate with Universal as and when.

Your least expensive option would be to go to HHN on Wed (29th) and/or Thurs (30th). The AAA rate at the HRH is $251 for those nights, with the rates going up to $264 for halloween night +. And not only are the hotel rates lower on these nights, but the HHN ticket prices are ALOT less!! I can not for the life of me remember exactly how much the tickets were, but the AP discount for HHN tixs are always the best deal.

the mouse owns us the 1st 1/2 of the week;) ; used to be able to snag a reasonable rate...now I know Oct. is "prime time" & shall plan accordingly. Makes sense that it is to earn the big bucks as in any "major" holiday period.

do i have to buy HHN tix ahead of time to get the AP discount; was hoping to pick them up @ gate:confused: unless they tend to sell out:eek:

head's up:upsidedow

when i checked AAA site yesterday & today; it showed NO DISCOUNTED ROOMS for onsite Universal last weekend before Halloween:scared1:

did call Loews direct, only AAA rate available @ RPR; booked @ approx $270 night ($233 something before taxes).

Just couldn't pay rack @ HRH:sad2: little less than $300+. Res. told me, if it were still available, would be in area of $265+.

Wonder why the rooms aren't showing on AAA East website?:confused3
