Yay! I just scheduled a weekend in March at the HHI location! My daughter competes in gymnastics in Savannah, GA that weekend and I thought, why not check out HHI instead of paying for a hotel out of pocket? I got it! I heard it's only about 15 or so min away from Savannah...has anyone heard or know of different? So excited! First time at HHI!

Although I haven't stayed at HHI yet, we are booked for December. I have been researching Savannah for a day trip and I believe it is more like 45 minutes to an hour away.

It is about 40 miles from the HHI resort to Savannah. We went in March 2011. We used a GPS for directions and it took about 45- minutes to 1 hour. We were on local highways and it was an easy drive. Although it is through the country and you don't pass much along the way, it was fine. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other specific questions.

Yup, 45 minutes to an hour. We've do it at least once a year for the last 8 years (except a couple times when we used other airports). The forst time we went was in March, and the weather was so nice. Maybe a little cool for the beach, but perfect for biking and miniature golf.

It may be a bit chilly for swimming in March (low-mid 70's), but you will love it!

We usually visit the Hilton Head resort the first week of April. I love it because it's not your typical Disney resort. It has a rustic lodge feel and is a very relaxing place to visit :)

Ahhhh, isn't it wonderful when DVC works in our favor :woohoo:. Like a PP said, it might be too cold for swimming, but a nice walk on the beach sounds wonderful.

We haven't been to HHI since 2005 :sad2:but hope to get back there in the next few years.

Good luck to your daughter in her gymnastics competition:flower3:

The main pool is heated, so for us northerners, it may be warm enough to dip in the pool! The beach club may not be open however you'll have tons to do at the resort itself.

When we've been there, even in February, the Beach House is open, although it usually closes early, around 4:00. If we've gone over there, sometimes we're the only car in the lot.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you told me that it is 45 min-hour away...that will help in my planning and not be a 'surprise' when I get there. I'm excited that I feel like I'm getting a free hotel stay this time...although I know that's not true =) I'm also excited that the pool may be open...my kids were disappointed last time because the hotel pool wasn't open when we stayed in downtown Savannah. I can't wait!
