We are staying at HHI 8/24 to 8/31. Any members out there who will also be there? This will be out first trip there and my DW is worried we will be bored, compared to the hustle of the parks. Anyone have any thoughts on the subject? Thanks in advance.

Haven't stayed at HH yet, but expect to make reservations for next February when our use year comes available. From the literature, it looks as if there is a lot to do. I'm looking forward to it already. Hope you have a great time. :earsgirl:  :)

While HH is certainly a different experience than the WDW parks, there is always much to do (including doing nothing at all!)

The resort has a great activities program for all ages. There are nature walks, shelling, fishing, horseback riding, gyotaku, crabbing, cooking (with Matilda), "Behind the Ears", campfires, stories and "Shadow".

Also offered are sailing, parasailing, golf, tennis, dolphin tours, kayaking, canoeing, shopping and over 300 restaurants on the island.

Personally, I enjoy a quiet walk on the beach and a good book in a hammock..but I'm pretty easy to please! ;)

Your DW shouldn't have any problem finding something to enjoy at the resort!

Have a great trip!

I agree with Doc. The best thing to do is to do nothing at all. The hammocks, the beach, the pool (when everyone is away) and the 300 rest. They have Pirate Golf. The same one that you see in the adds as the original pirate golf in Orlando. This "southern" resort is hussel free. (you may find the bridge onto the Island backed up and the outlet shops crowded if you need some of that. Wait until about 6:30 or 7:00 and go to the Old Oyster Factory on Sat. night. That might make you feel the hussel at WDW. j/k We love the "nothing to do" atmosphere down there.

I've been to HH every year for the last eight years, my DH, the last twenty! It's the nicest tropical escape in the U.S. imo. I haven't stayed at the Disney resort, but I hear they have loads of planned activities, so much that you can be busy every minute of the day if you wish!

Some non Disney activities we enjoy are; Beach walking, bike riding, golfing, swimming, alligator hunting (just for pics!) outlet shopping, exploring out of the way dining and shopping, resort hopping, jet skiing, dolphin cruises, crabbing, fishing, and last but not least, relaxing poolside!
Some years we are more exhausted after our week than when we go to WDW!

We love it there so much we're hoping to live there one day. It really is a wonderful island.
