It was a rough year last year (definitely not much Disney Magic going around) and we discovered that we had 34 points that we have to use by the end of January or lose them.

We live in South Carolina, so Hilton Head Island is a good option for us to use our points. We were hoping for a one bedroom but unfortunately they only had a studio for us for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, checking out Monday. Can't complain, though, as it's better than having no room at the Inn.

Anyway, what things are there to do in Hilton Head in January? We've been at other times of the year like September and March and have always just spent the majority of our days at the beach or in the pool. I don't really think that will be an option this trip.

I'm open to suggestions of your favorite winter time activities in Hilton Head.

Thanks!!

The weather will range from the mid 40's to mid 60's - although extremes can exist at either end.

We have been several times in January and have enjoyed biking (there are miles of bike trails all over the island), walking on the beach, participating in some of the resort activities and exploring HH itself - there are a number of cultural events year-round (check out the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina - within walking distance of the resort), lots of shopping (both outlets and boutique shops), dining (almost 300 restaurants on the island), history (plantation ruins), visit nearby Savannah, golf, tennis and art.

In addition to those suggestions one other often under-rated "activity" - just relaxing with a good book!

Have a great stay! :)

Ah, yes-added to that, relaxing with a good book while sitting in Big Murgie's Den sipping hot cider and eating warm cranberry nut cookies in front of the burning fireplace. And since you're staying in a studio you have a 16/21 chance of being in the same building as Big Murgie's Den (or at least able to get there without going down and outside.

Oh, and I almost forgot-while reading, sipping, eating in front of the fireplace, you'll be listening to softly played Big Band music, like "In the Mood".

We went in early February last year and although it wasn't pool/ocean weather it wasn't that cold either. However, with the extreme cold we have seen in SC this winter that may not be the case this year.

You didn't say if you would be taking kids or not but there are plenty of nice restaurants to keep you fed, a small movie theater nearby, biking, shopping, just relaxing in the villa, various tours/cruises, etc. That doesn't even include the activities at the resort itself, which are somewhat more geared toward kids than adults, but can be fun nonetheless.
