Just a thought for all you HHI visitors...sign up for Groupon and LivingSocial. Both have deals for Hilton Head/Savannah. I have seen a few of the restaurants that people frequently mention on the DIS pop up on Groupon or LivingSocial. There were deals for Alligator Grill and Giuseppe's Pizza in the last few weeks on one or the other. You have to pay attention to the terms and the expiration dates of the deals but you can snag some good deals on there, especially watch in the few months before your trip.

I personally haven't used any of them for HHI yet. We went in Oct last year and the city wasn't on the deal sites yet. But they are now. So whenever we get back to HHI I'll definitely be on the lookout. And I use both sites for deals in my city all the time. Haven't had any problems yet.

I stayed there in Jan of this year. I used Tripadvisor to help find restaurants to go to and was happy with my choices. I highly recommend A Lowcountry Backyard. Very small and casual. Awesome food! Went twice in one week. A must have is their banana pudding!

I did the same thing on our October trip. We went to A Low Country Backyard too since it was #1. We were not impressed at all. We couldn't figure out how that restaurant was top of the list. I had the crabcakes and got 2 of the tiniest crabcakes ever. And I didn't like them! I was so disappointed as I love crabcakes. And it only came with one side. I chose mashed potatoes which I didn't care for either. DH got the meatloaf which was good and what I wished I had ordered. The kids just got grilled cheese. We got the banana pudding for dessert too and again were not impressed. It was just okay. For 2 adults & 2 kids our bill was over $70. We probably won't go there again. Glad we tried it but happy there's many other choices on HHI. Maybe we just hit it on a bad night.

Funny because we took the shuttle over to the beach. The bus driver was asking us where we had eaten that week. I told him about A Low Country Backyard and he was intrigued. He'd not heard of it before.
