I know these are very basic questions, but since I can't find the search button, I'll be asking them(again).

1. When is the best time to go crabbing--high/low tide? What do you use and can you get it at the resort?

2. How close is Signe's and Stacks to the resort?

3. What restaurants do you like? We prefer casual with the kids, but are open to all cuisines.

We've never eaten at Stacks, so I'm not real sure where it is, but Signe's is not far. Take a right out of Shelter Cove, right on Arrow Road (Light right before Sea Pines Circle), & Signe's is a little ways down on the right. It never takes us more than 5-10 minutes depending on traffic (we went 3 times this last trip :rolleyes1).

I've been on that restaurant thread...It's great, but I will give you our favs from this last trip: We LOVED the Mellow Mushroom (keep in mind that we are 2 adults & we had 5 of our 6 children with us ages 1-17)...we've always loved Guiseppis, but we have a new favorite! Fun atmosphere, great food. The kids also always want to go to the Sea Shack. Very reasonable & a favorite among locals. It looks like a dive, but it's great.

We also went to Wild Wings Cafe, which was another kid request, but we like it too.

Hope this helps...Have fun planning! We're ready to go back already & we were just there!

I know it`s touristy, but we went to the Salty Dog Cafe and loved it! We are going back to HHI in July, and it`ll be a definite stop. I would love for any other suggestions as well. We don`t know much about HHI eating spots.

Love Stacks:cool1:Turn right after leaving the resort and it's only 1/2 mile on the right next to a Red Roof Inn. Best breakfest we had while we were there.Signes was good but very $$$$ and the kids did not like the food.Wife still talks about the Creme brulee french toast from Stacks:worship:

Love, Love, Love Signe's! Every Thanksgiving we have a take-out dinner from Signe's. Also, we eat breakfast there the day we pick up our Thanksgiving meal. Between that and leftovers, we eat from Signe's at least 3 times the week we go! We also really enjoy the Sea Shack and Salty Dog (their she-crab soup is a must for us!) When we're full of seafood, It's Greek to Me is a nice, casual resturaunt for a change. Old Fort Pub has been recommended to us, very fancy resturant, but we haven't gotten there yet. We keep meaning too, though.

Crabbing at the resort is usually done right from the pier. The resort does have crab nets available and the common bait used is chicken necks - inexpensive and readily available at any of the nearby groceries. From the pier, the tide doesn't really matter since there is sufficient water depth at either high or low tide - the crabs aren't too particular and are hanging around all the time! :)

I think there is also a crabbing acitivity thru the recreation staff at the resort. Just ask at the rec desk near the pool!

Enjoy! :)
