HHI questions

The new points charts have thrown my long term planning into a whirl. We are thinking of going to HHI in the fall of 2011. We'll have a 5.5 year old and hopefully a 1.5 year old. Is it still warm enough to swim in the 1st or 2nd week of October? In the ocean? In the pool? We'd be staying 5 days 4 nights, what activities are there to do in the resort or in the area with young kids?

I do think that it's warm enough for swimming in the pools. Although we haven't been in October, we have been in November, and since the pools are heated, there are always people swimming in the pools. Since we don't have young kids, I can't speak from personnal experience, but I know they've got lots of activities for kids-the Campfire and Sweet Goodnights (all ages), Arts and Crafts activities for the 5 yo, Goofy Bingo, Resort Nature Walk, there was a 1 1/2 yo on the Dolphin tour with me, Kids Night Out (for the 5 yo), Messy Science, board games you can borrow at the front desk, free DVDs you can borrow at the General Store, etc.

Oh, how I wish all of my kids were little again and we could travel to the Carolina Coast in October. Early October is the best time of year. Not too hot and not too cold. You will have a wonderful time!

Booking the room in cash is certainly an option. Where can I get the rates? What is availability like in Oct?

In early October, the ocean temps will usually still be in the mid-upper 70's. We were there this past October and swam in the ocean every day. The resort has lots of age appropriate activities (for all ages).

We go on a golf trip the last full week of September every year and I guarantee that on that week the air temps are plenty warm for swimming. I don't know how warm the ocean is but the air temps are usually mid-upper 80's and humid. BTW, HHI has a fantastic beach.

I'm pretty sure the 2008 rates are at the beginning of the HHI-lovers thread. I know the cost of a 1 BR with the member's discount was only about $123, a studio about $90 in November,
