Hi -- I would like some information about the grills at the HHI resort. It has been so long since we were there and would like to do a majority of our own cooking while we are there in June. Are the grills strategically located? Do people use them a lot? Do we provide our own charcoal, etc.?

Also, what do you think of the idea of the grandkids bringing along their Razor scooters?? Good idea or not?

And, how many of you who will be there 6/6-6/9 will have kids along the ages of 6 and 10? (Just asking for the grandkids since I said there would be other kids there for them -- and they were both excited.)

Thanks for any answers.

The grills are placed in several places throughout the resort. If you're staying in the main lodge building, you can even use the large grill that's located out on the deck (but it requires more charcoal than the others). And, yes, you do need to bring your own charcoal. We also bring some BBQ tools, since the ones provided in the villa don't have long handles.

As far as razor scooters go, people do bring them. :rolleyes2 'nuff said. ;)

I'm quite sure that there will be lots of other kids for your grandkids to meet. Hang out at the pools and sign them up for some of the many activities the resort offers.

For no reason in particilar, I took a picture of the grill when we were there in March this year. Here's what they look like:

We always buy one of the grill brushes to give the grill a good scrubbing before cooking on it. We also buy the bags of charcoal with the fluid already inside of them, after all, we are on vacation. ;)

As for the scooter, I have seen them at the resort and IMO, they are no different than kids riding either their bikes or Heely's around. If the kids aren't paying attention, then most definately, it can be a hazard as can the bikes or Heely's. I would say you are the best just of your child's ability. That being said, the resort is not a big one, and the walk to the pool or Lodge is not a huge one -- that is, unless your a kid.

I'm sure your grandkids will meet lots of other kids around the resort or in the pool.

Have a great trip! :beach:

I see the grills being used everytime I am there. there is a big one at BMD. I think about 8 grills around the units. there is also two grills and tables at the beach house.

kids are kids and they can ride their scooter around. I have been known to start some late night chariot races using the luggage carts around the pathways.

they have poured new ashphalt on the pathways this past week. (using a little machine that looks just like old bessy) so be careful with the skates and scooters because it is a 3 to 6 inch drop off from the path to the ground.

There is a securtiy guy on a segway at shelter cove that won't let you ride the scooters over there.

I am going to HHI on Friday May 25th. I asked for a map of the grounds and it looks like there are grills located around all of the resort so I am sure there is one close to where you are staying.
