HHI question

We LOVE Hilton Head! My question is this: We have FF miles to use and want to book right at the 331 day mark to ensure our airfare into Savannah. We do not own at HHI and would need to wait until the 7 month mark. We are looking into 3rd week of March 2006. Do you think we will have any problems booking HHI in a 2 bedroom at the 7 month mark.

We have stayed their twice before and have never had a problem. However, I have always purchased airfare AFTER the ressie has been made and not months BEFORE.

Should I book a back up cash reservation?

IMO I think you'll be fine for that week. Easter is in April 2006, so you won't have to worry about crowds from that. We hope to be down there the week after you (week of March 26).

My spring break is always the 3rd week in March. I mentioned once that I'd like to go to HH in spring '06 and someone came on board to wish me luck and say that he just bought points at HH to guarantee a spring ressie. So, I don't know what to think. We're going to try at 7 months for the ressie, a 2 bedroom or 2 studios. We'll have back up ressies at WDW/VB, but that doesn't help you with the airline question.

We have been to HHI twice. We have been DVC members since 10-02. We went Spring Break last year and a week in July 2003. I had not problem at seven months getting a 2 bedroom. Ironically enough we have gotten the same 2 bedroom each trip.

I am uneasy getting the airline tickets with the remote chance of NOT getting the dates I am looking for. I am thinking a backup ressie would be a good idea.

We just did the exact same thing-purchased our airfare at HH early because we were using FF miles, yet didn't book at HH until the 7 month mark, also for the middle of March. And we LOVE Hilton Head, too-can't wait to go. I was a little nervous about getting reservations-we were going for a 1 BR, and there are even fewer of those than 2 BRs. I think you'll be fine. But I know what you go through by having to book those frequent flier tickets early-right now, we're holding FF air tickets for WDW for Thanksgiving, but can't book OKW til a couple more months. We're pretty nervous!
