Will be staying at DHHIR for the first time - so excited. At other DVC resorts, we've been able to request a blender for the kitchen - is that an option at DHHIR? I need to know how much margarita mix and tequila to bring. :P
Also, local friends are going to visit us and one of those friends is unable to navigate stairs with his walker. Is there someplace to hang out at DHHIR that doesn't require him to use stairs? (We are staying a week and it seemed unfair to request accessible accommodations that we'd only need for one afternoon.) Thanks for any info - can't wait for my relaxing DVC vacation!

Don’t know about the blender.

You don’t need to reques a full handicapped accessible room, with roll in shower, etc. just reques a room that has a ramp or does not require any stairs. That is quite reasonable.

I can't figure out how to post the picture of the resort layout. If you google "Disney HHI Resort Map" you'll find it. The resort is very compact, very. There are picnic tables (and grills) scattered throughout which would be very easy to access. The store/quick service are a level-up from the pool but there is a ramp. The pier that you see in all the pictures can be access through the pool.

If your room is in the lodge you'll have an elevator. There are no "ground floor" rooms, everything is elevated.

I'm not sure about guest parking or the blender (I'm a wine drinker LOL).

Thanks for the ideas so far.

Still hoping someone knows if there is a blender in the kitchen or if they can be requested. And while you're thinking kitchen, do you remember what kind of coffee pot is in the kitchen - do I need basket filters, cone filters, pods, or Kcups?

You need basket filters for the coffee pot. And, there is coffee available (for free) in the lobby also.

I would suggest meeting right in Live Oak Lodge, it has the elevator. Or just request a building with access to the elevator.
Live Oak Lodge
Take some downtime and play pool or just relax in front of the fireplace amidst cozy antique furnishings in Big Murggie's Den.

We just got back from HHI. Our room had a blender. I found it when I was looking for something else. Not sure if they are in every room, maybe someone requested it in my room previously? So I would say that you can definitely get one. Enjoy! Love this resort!

And I echo the others, the Lodge has an elevator, I believe it is building 11, we were building 12 which is connected and accessible by elevator.
