Is HHI worthy of a week's stay????? :confused3 Just returned from Vero and 4 nights were good for us. Will we regret not booking a longer stay than a week at HHI ?? Our kids will be dd20, ds 17 and ds 12. We would love to explore areas around HHI too. Would love some feedback/advice!!! :goodvibes

We have gone for the past 5 summers and spend 4 nights(we drive from Boston) and take one overnight on the drive to and from so that really is our week..4 nights is perfect for us..we relax, read, hit the beach, sit on the porch..etc. This year we added on night in Savannah to the 4 nights at HHi and it was really a nice addition. We find that this is our relaxing vacation as opposed to our xmas wdw annual visit(although we do not commando tour as we have been so many times) tha tends to tire you out more than relax you.

We were there 5 nights and I would have liked 6. We had 2 23 yr and 2 20 yrolds with us

Has anyone been to HH in November? Is there anything to do there if you are not a golfer?

I think that anything under a week is a tease. This summer we stayed at HH for a week and it even felt too short. This spring we will only be there for 5 days like we did over Christmas week and it's just not enough time to unwind. I could do the pool, hot tub, beach rotation for a very long time. :cool2:

2 weeks would be ideal.

Completely worthy of a week or even more- I went for 4 nights my first trip, and that was CLEARLY not enough- so last year we went back for 5 nights at DVC, 2 nights at Hampton- STILL not enough!! :goodvibes This year is 7 days- 6 of them will be DVC. Still not enough, but what can ya do? I'm a foodie, and I love nature- we are golfers- to me, it's a perfect fit. It will be a bit different from Vero, because the outside world is a 2 minute walk away. At Vero, it's quite a lot further, as I guess you found out. But there are no Traditional Disney characters- not even at a breakfast- they do have B'Lou Crabbe and the elusive Shadow....loads of activities, and if they don't appeal, the island itself is full of so, SO much to try....I think I need to move there. I really need to work on DH. :rotfl:

I'm right there with you!! One of my sisters moved into Sea Pines this summer. I'm very jealous!!

Our shortest trip we do for HHI is 5 nights. That was our first summer, we've never taken that short amount again...now we stay for 7 and we still hate leaving!!!!!

I will let you know after our trip (in only 2 weeks from today )!! We're staying 7 nights as we almost always vacation for 7 nights min. whenever we go anywhere. Vacations must be at least a week long!! I told you 3-4 nights at Vero would be plenty...now you know you can trust me!!:goodvibes

We went earlier this year and stayed for 8 nights. We enjoyed HHI very much and did not run out of things to do.

spend 3 days there several years ago. my brother just came back from 3 days.

it is nice. but really wanted more Disney. now did not ride the bikes - but definitely went to the beach (several times)

if you are into golf or tennis - you will love it. My friends wanted to do the dolphin thing - you go out in a boat to see dolphins. but think it was too expensive for my taste (cheap)

We've gone two times now-both times for a week and after our June trip my husband and I said 10 days next time! A week will fly by-and if you're driving that will eat up almost a full day-this year we spent a night on the road-much more relaxing. There is so much to do around the area and so many good (and reasonable places) to eat that are 10 minutes away. We would be on the beach for 6 hours-we had beautiful weather. We went kayaking, played minature golf, rode bikes...can you tell I love HHI :cloud9:? Read Podsnel's TRs-they inspired our first trip in 2008 and are full of pictures and great info!

We've done short stays at both resorts. I agree with you about Vero, a short stay is enough. This past Christmas we did a last minute, four night trip to HHI, and we felt it wasn't enough time even at that time of year.

As a previous poster said, there's just so much to do on the island. We have two boys (16 and 10) and they had a lot fun. I can't wait to visit in the summer.

Oh please give me the link to that trip report. Thanks

Her post is #7 and she has two trip reports listed-2009 has some pictures of the 3 BR villa. Enjoy!

We stayed 4 nights over Labor Day weekend two years ago and the trip definitely wasn't long enough! That was our first trip using our DVC points and the kids (11 and 9 at the time) thought we were nuts using them there and not at WDW. Now they can't wait to go back, and we're definitely planning a longer trip next time.

For Labor Day, there was an all-you-can-eat barbeque complete with entertainment and games. I forget the cost, but we went and had a lot of fun. There are nature walks with knowledgeable cast members, fishing and crab catching and lots of crafts for the family (we made tie-dyed Mickey head t-shirts). We also did the dolphin watching -- it was expensive but really interesting. I saw what I thought was a flock of water birds splashing along the surface of the water -- turned out it was a school of fish being herded by the dolphins as they fed.

I have been going through your trip reports. GREAT PHOTOS. :thumbsup2

Where is this Hampton Inn??? How much further do you have the next day to HHI???

I could move into HHI the day my DS got out of school and could stay there until he went back to school.

But I am going to have to be happy with a week every other year for now. :upsidedow
