HHI in Oct?

I have never, ever been to HHI and we will be making our first trip in Oct. Any suggestions on things to see/do?

First, October is a great time to go! CMs I've talked with say that October is the best month for a combination of weather and crowds. It's hard to make recommendations without knowing what you like. We're nature enthusiasts (well, when DH isn't golfing), so we enjoy Sea Pines Forest Preserve, the outdoors at the Coastal Discovery Museaum, and walking the Port Royal Beaches area.

What is the ocean/beach like in mid October? We are staying 2 nights and I love swimming in the warm ocean. Thanks.
