I have heard that if you want to sit on a beach chair at HHI, it'll cost you upwards of $15.00 per day? Can anyone confirm this? Sounds kinda crazy for a premium resort to charge for something like this!

chair rental are set up by the county or state. THey are rented through the lifegard. Disney (or any other hotel) dose not have anything to do with it. You can sit on your own chair for free.

The beach on HHI is public. DVC owns access to the beach via their Beach House - chairs at the beach house are free. We take our own chairs.

I plan on buying our chairs and leaving them when we leave - Desperado - where did you find them for $10. Thanks.

Too bad there isn't a chair swap just like the Christmas Tree swap for those who can't take them when they leave. Or a little shed designated for chairs that when you check in you can see if there are any available and when guests leave, they can return the ones in good condition back to the shed for the next guest.

I don't know if they're $10, but I think Wal Mart is probably your best bet for buying inexpensive beach chairs. The smaller, touristy shops will likely be more expensive.

We always rent from the lifeguard. Yes it is expensive but if you consider how pristine the beaches are and the number of lifeguards on the beach it is well worth it. My .02

Cora, Do you remember what the per day cost is for chairs and umbrella?

I don't remember the cost. But we rented 2 chairs and an umbrella for 5 days and I think it was about $120. The lifeguards really know how to setup the chairs and umbrellas very well. Many times we have sat in our chairs watching umbrellas roll down the beach from people who brought their own and thought they had them in securely.

The thing we do buy and not rent are boogie boards. You can get them at Piggly Wiggly or the sporting goods store next door. They are a fraction of what they are to rent and then we just leave them when we depart...or if my son has made friends with someone he gives it to them.

I found my slip from last July for 2 beach chairs and an umbrella---$27.00. I think if we paid for consecutive days in advance, it would then go to $18/day.

Walmart.

We have some nice folding one's now that fold down to a tube size fit in a case and are very light to carry. We got them at Myers for $13.

Thanks for all of the responses. We will definitely support the life guards and rent chairs and umbrellas.

We took a 'Neat Sheet' with us. Actually we didn't realize there wouldn't be chairs on the beach and we just happened to have one of these Neat Sheets in our van (always try to carry one, they are handy).

Of course it wasn't as comfortable as chairs, but we spent more time up at the pool at the beach house than we did on the actual beach.
