I am interested in booking a Grand Villa at HHI for any of the last 3 weeks in July of next year. I am assuming I will need to do this day by day.

What is the procedure for making the daily ressies? If I want to check in on July 13, I am assuming I can make the first daily call on August 14. Is this correct? Do I have to call first thing in the morning?

Also, any building/room recommendations for GVs?

Calling day by day is your best bet. I would call first thing in the morning. I believe your correct with the August 14th date. I always call MS and ask just to be certain ahead of time. Can't help with building/locations of grand villas but I'll bet that your going to have a fabulous time there. We leave next Saturday for our week there. Enjoy!

Since there are only 5 GV's at the HH Resort, I would suggest calling daily right at 11 months.

You can call on Aug 14 to reserve July 13, 2003 as you suggested. MS can advise the need to call daily. Let them know of your intent and they can send only one confirmation for your entire stay.

The GV's are in buildings 16,18,19,27,28 . Buildings 27 and 28 are smoking optional buildings.

Buildings 16,19 and 28 have island views (mostly woods) and 18 and 27 have marsh views. There are no GV's with a pool view. The GV's are spectacular- 2362 sq ft on 2 levels with a fireplace. Wood is provided by the resort (but you probably won't need a fire in July!).

Good Luck!

I booked a GV at 11 months with out day by day calling. This was for the last week in june. I uses so many points I don't think that it is as popular as people think. Building 19 GV does not have a marsh view. The front view is the marina and shelter cove. the back deck is covered by a thick growth of trees. It is very private, only the decks on the left and right can see you. You can sit on the deck and enjoy the live music from San Miguels (when the rest of your family is quiet) Because of the trees you can't see the fireworks from the deck.

Thanks, Canda! You are correct, it is an Island View building. :)

This week, the entire resort is at capacity. One of the GV's had a water leak in a bathroom and was taken out of service to repair the damage. The family who had reserved that villa was put up in a nearby hotel, since there were no vacant villas available here at the DVC resort.

Hope they got all their points back, and they weren't put up at a Motel 6. I would think that could spoil your vacation. Were they were allowed pool hopping at the Big Dipper? ;)

I would highly recomend building 18 If you can get it. We stayed in it the first week of June this year and it was great. It is centrally located with super marsh view very quiet. My wife loves just sitting on the back porch and birdwatching she thinks that if she could have stayed just a little longer she could have gotten the birds to eat right from her hand. It was an awesome experience staying in the Grand Villa we hope to be able to stay there again in the future.

I have a friend who called to book this july 4th week in a GV, right at 11 mos. at exactly 9 o'clock, calling daily. They got all but their last night. Apparently, the cm said, yes it was available but put them on hold and when she came back on, my friend was told, sorry, it just went. the waitlist never came thru either.
also, on a side note, i heard the CM's at HH frontdesk this week say that they were "at 100% capacity" but i was able to add a night in my 2 br, with a 50% cm discount, no less. it was a friday night, i'm sure people on points don't want to use them on a friday.
