HHI --Flying in?

We are planning to be at DVC HHI for Thanksgiving with my in-laws. I think the 5 hour drive to our house and leaving the next day for a 12 hour drive to HHI would be too much for them. So, I am looking at flying them in to a nearby airport and then we'll pick them up there. Which airport would you suggest near HHI? How far from there to the resort? What airline would you suggest from Pittsburgh to whatever is near HHI?

I believe most people fly into Savannah, GA which is a little under an hour away. I've also heard of people using Charleston, SC but I think this is more like a 2 hour drive.

There is an airport on Hilton Head if you can afford the tickets to fly in. If you fly into Hilton Head you would have to fly US-Air. Depending on which gets the most flights in and out of your area Hilton Head could be cheaper so you may want to look into that.

Otherwise you will have to fly into Savannah, GA which is mostly Delta.

Savannah isn't bad. You can hope right on I-95 up to exit 8 in SC and it is four lanes the whole way.

We always fly into Savannah. You will get the largest selection and most flights to pick from out of Pittsburgh (US AIR).

My husband and father flew into Savannah 2 years ago on Airtran. Very nice,small airport. Airtran often has specials to Savannah. However, their prices can change from one day to the next. There is a shuttle service that runs from the airport to DVC. I can't remember the price, but it was reasonable. My husband is flying back and plans to use the shuttle.

Another option to consider is flying out of Washington Dulles..yes I know it is a long drive from Delaware...but maybe not as far as Pittsburg. There is a new discount airline starting up there shortly in a couple of weeks called Independence Air and they are considering flying to Sav as one of their stops...
