We are considering buying points at HHI some time in the future and are curious about what HHI is like around Thanksgiving & Christmas?

Is it too cold to get out and enjoy the beach (at least walking or picking seashells)? Do they decorate the resort with Christmas decorations? Is there still a lot to do in the area during the holidays?

Just curious what your experience has been, for those that have stayed there during the holidays.

Thanksgiving is the only holiday I can tell you about. We've been there for 5 Thanksgivings, with reservations already for our 6th. Weather is very variable-one year it was 32 degrees and icy on Thanksgiving, last year it was in the 70s. Most years it's at least OK to walk on the beach. They're already decorated for Christmas, so it's really pretty. We love it there at that time.

Awesome! Thanks for the nice pics! It looks beautiful that time of year. Coming from up north (born in NY and living in IN), I think I could even live with 32 degrees if I was at the ocean!

It looks like a great place to spend Thanksgiving or Christmas. :)

We were there for New Year's Eve this past year- they had a party around the pool- music, noise makers, etc. We were too tired to take part- too much driving!!

This year will be our 3rd NYE there. We love it! We've been able to swim at least one or 2 days each trip, and we've been on the beach both times. It's been an interesting mix, because in the same 4-5 day trip, it's cool and warm. Some days shorts, some days jeans and sweats. Makes packing a BEAST! I have friends that go for Thanksgiving every year and really enjoy it, too.

We love HHI at Thanksgiving! I agree that the temperatures can vary quite a bit. I think we have been there for 4 Thanksgivings. We have seen below freezing to real beach weather. The activities were great when the kids were young--big beach football game and a "southern" snow ball fight were their favorites. About a month before you go, you will get a form to order turkey and all the trimmings if you want. Next time I am going that route!

As with any beach vacation, the weather will dictate the activity. One year, we saw a lot of movies and another we went shark fishing and boogie boarding. Bring books and games and enjoy. Also, bring more than one swim suit. My son ripped his on day 2 and we could not find a swim suit at the mall. He ended up with a Mickey suit though that is not what he wanted!

We have been to HHI in the winter and summer and I love both. We miss crabbing when we go in the winter, but love the decorations and the "homey" feel of the villas during the holidays. We also went once in January with some friends and got the Grand Villa and had a blast. Friends, fireplace, food....it was wonderful! Have fun!
