It would be ever so nice if one night (perhaps while kids are at Kids night out) DH and I could have a dinner out.

The basic criteria:

* Not too far away from resort (in case kids need us)
* Not too froo-froo (DH is a conservative sort of guy in his food tastes. To put it in WDW framework, he loved Shula's, but would NOT have liked V&A.)
* Not so loud that we have to strain to hear each other!
* Something unique to the area -- not a chain found elsewhere.
* Nothing where they say, "Want fires with that" or offer to super-size it

So -- any ideas?

Alexander's comes to mind -- you go right past it on the way to the Disney beach house. We have had some great dinners there, and it has some beautiful views of the Palmetto Dunes lagoons from the porch.

A little further away, you can try Garden Oak Grill, which is on Marshland Road, on the way to the Old Oyster Factory. Or if you want venture out a little more, Old Fort Pub in Hilton Head Plantation is awesome.

We've been known to just spend some time looking at the restaurant guide book with all the menus and choosing something that way. Most of them have been winners. :goodvibes

Your best bet would be Alexanders. It is the closest to the resort. Right on the way to the beach house. It is nice and romantic, food is great, so is the early dinning meals. But as for "Froo-froo", it is a Man's type of place. The owner has a collection of Harleys and Indian Motorcycles in the place. It is very nice though. Make a ressie and ask for the Porch. It is a screen porch right on the river. It is our favorite place
