Just wondering which months/dates are busiest at HHI? We would like to plan a trip there someday, and are fine with going in the off season, but is it like some of the other resorts (like F&W at BWC, BCV) where there are some times that *appear* to be off season from the points charts, but are actually difficult to reserve because they're popular with DVC-ers?

Which months would be easy/med/difficult/impossible to reserve at the 7 month window? Are there times that might have availability on short notice--like 60 days out?

TIA!
Michelle

Hilton Head Island is basically a family oriented destination. It is busiest during times when families can travel together like summer months, Spring Break and Thanksgiving.

Winter months (December, January and early February) will have the most availability even for short notice reservations. May will find reservation success at 7 months as well as September (after Labor Day), October and early November.

Because of the limited number of Studio and 1BR villas at the HH DVC resort(only 21 of each), those room types tend to disappear from the inventory the fastest.

Winter months will certainly have the lowest occupancy due to the generally cooler weather (although the weather may be quite nice at times).

We've been to HH throughout the year and have found the fall and spring very enjoyable. Summer is wonderful (ocean temps range in the mod 80's) and even the winter can be nice (with low crowds).

Enjoy!

We went to HHI the week before Memorial Day in 2005. We easily booked a 2-bedroom at the 7-month window. Great weather. :cloud9:

When we got there, they gave me several different choices on my view. I took a great view of the marsh. :smooth:

As with all DVC resorts you can pretty much judge busy times by points requires for reservation.

January and February are the lowest season...but that's because the weather is going to be chilly for the most part. You might get lucky and have a warm day, but it does still get cold (not freezing cold....but cold anyway) here in South Carolina in those months.

We're trying for September of next year....looking forward to it.
