We recently took the kids to Hilton Head and stayed at a family member's villa. While on the Island we walked over to Disney HHI and fell completely in love. The ambiance was great, laid back, friendly, lots for kids to do.

I know summer is tough to book at 7 mths. Does anyone have experience booking a studio for a week in late March when Easter is in mid-April? Any other times you would recommend going? Ideally temp btwn 60-80 degrees, ok if ocean not warm enough to swim in.

March, April and May before you get near Memorial Day weekend, is usually open at HH at 7 months out except for time during the two Easter weeks and except sometimes for 3 bedrooms. You have a risk of some cool days in late March, early April, so do not assume you will necessarily be able to go in water during that time. We consider the ideal time to go to HH to be Sep after Labor Day weekend through October. Weather tends to be ideal, crowds are moderate, and HH is usually open at 7 months except for 3BRs at times.

I second September and October if you like the beach. CMs we've talked to there say that late September into October are the best times.

I am not sure if we just got lucky or not but we booked our first stay last year and were there for a week - the first week of June. Got a one bedroom (from what I have heard there are a very limited amount of one bedrooms) at the 7month window without an issue. It may have been harder for us later in the summer though.

Ironically, even though there are so few 1 BRs, they're often the last to get booked. I remember once, sitting nearby, I overheard someone at the front desk asking if they could extend their stay one more night. I thought the CM said "We have a 1 BR available, but no 2 BRs." I asked the CM about that later, and she explained that HHI is such a family resort that often big family groups, often multi-generational, are much more likely to be looking for reservations. And couples and small families more often look for a studio. Good for those of us who like 1 BRs!
