Has anyone used the HHI airport for flying in and out to Disney's HHI resort? Does anyone know what airline(s) serve that airport? Can you get a rental car there? It would seem so convenient! Also, has anyone used Columbus airport to get there? I know that's not convenient, but we're really trying to increase our options. And since only 2 airlines fly within 125 miles of where we live, we're certainly not likely to have many options here!

Hi..... One year we tried to book flights into HHI and were told we could not get them. Then, the canceled our other flight and lo and behold, they flew us right into HHI. Not sure how or why that happended, but it is a nice little airport. Reminds one of the south seas or something. Yes, I know at least one or two care rental companies were there. The only airline I am sure that flies into HHI is US Airways on a big prop plane....It was fun and worth it..... :wave2:

I think Coachsting is correct in that USAir is the only commercial airline that flies into HH. And I believe the only flights are from Charlotte, so you'd have to connect.

Savannah (actually called Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport) is only about an hour away from the resort and has many more options. I believe car rental is easier there as well.

Did you mean Columbia (rather than Columbus)? It's about 2 hours away. Charleston is also about 2 hours away, so you really have quite a few options.

We often have to fly one family member or another in or out of Savannah while we're visiting HH and it's a really nice airport. I would be willing to bet the airfares to Savannah are probably more attractive thanthose to HH, too!

:woohoo:

In seasons past, my dh was flying in there regularly, on USAir. But I think that Continental also has a couple of flights in there as well. Have you tried using the website sidestep.com? It will list nearly all the airlines as well as surrounding airport options. I agree that it is a very convenient option for flying in, as long as you don't mind the smaller planes.

Thanks, Disneyaholic, it must be Columbia. Although my math is pretty good, my geography isn't. That would be great if continental goes there now. Besides price, we're also looking for frequent flier tickets. DH belongs to several FF programs, including continental. And thanks for the info on sidestep. I haven't heard of that-off to check it now.

The airport in Hilton Head is small. :sad2: (The airport code is HHH).

According to the Hilton Head airport website U.S. Airways Express runs flights through Charlotte/Douglas into Hilton Head most days. They also have a few flights during the summer from D.C. on weekends. Oh yeah, these are small turbo props. In other words, wind-up the rubber band to take off, and stick out your feet to stop! :scared1:

Want to fly jets? Catch service to Savannah, Georgia. Rent a car and take the one hour drive. Easy dependable service. :smooth:
