HHI 7 months out

Already kicking around some ideas about summer 2017 vacation. I was wondering how hard it is to get 1 BR at HHI in the summer or late spring seven months out.

Very difficult. There are very few 1 BRs. Spring would be easier than summer and a 2 BR is much easier (though still difficult) for a summer ressie at 7 mos.

Some will tell you they have gotten a reservation like you are talking about, but it is very difficult! Years ago we tried for a 2 bedroom during Spring break and the waitlist never came through. We bought HHI points. We are here right now! 1 bedroom, booked 11 months ago.

We bought into HHI for the same reason. You can always try and sometimes people do get their waitlist but the more people hear about this resort the harder it has been to get in at 7mo.

After reading all the other posts, we must be lucky. I waitlisted a 2 br during the second week of June. I waitlisted it in November and it came through in January. The 2 BR used a lot of points, but we will be staying in a room a lot more so we felt like we needed it. Now I can't wait for our trip next month!

From Jan until about the Thurs just before Memorial Day weekend, HH was available at 7 months out in 2016, except for time during the two Easter weeks which was mostly filled, and except that GV's were somethimes gone other times. Memorial Day weekend to about mid-June was spotty with rooms missing two to three days a week, except the dedicated 2BRs and the 1BRs were actually open June 1-9 if you booked on Nov 1 or 2, 2015, but by Nov 4 those were missing 3 nights between June 4 and 11. By mid-Nov, things started to get more difficult particularly for GVs, studios and 2BR lock-offs which were missing five or more days a week in last half of June. However, as luck would have it, both the dedicated 2BR and the 1BR were open for the week of June 18 to 25 (a Sat to Sat) at 7 months out, but by Nov 22, 6 of those nights were filled for both room sizes and by Nov 25, just about everything was gone through July 7 except for a random day or two and except for dedicated 2BRs which were missing only a few of those days. Once past July 7, it more or less became spotty again for the rest of July with rooms usually missing only a couple days a week at the start of any week except GVs more, and the 1BR sometimes had six straight days open, while the dedicated 2BR did have some openings for a week at a stretch.

On January 1, all rooms except GVs were still open for all of Aug 2016 at HH, and you could have gotten any room for a week 7 months out from Aug 1 or from Aug 2 (I suspect that might have something to do with the fact that massive amounts of spawning jellyfish usually show up right along the beaches at about that time of year). Thereafter, the rest of Aug was spotty with rooms tyically missing a couple days per week when checking 7 months out from the beginning of a week, except the dedicated 2BR was sometimes open for 7 nights in a row.

Thanks for the booking trends. Yesterday I was figuring out our 2017 vacations, and after reading what you said, I think I will book a shorter spring trip at 11 months and hopefully will be able to add on to it at 7 months. That gives me a longer July trip which I will book at 11 months!

The July trip is stand alone, the Spring trip is on the way home from WDW after seeing Epcot's F&G. 3 nights would work for us, but 5-7 would be a bonus!

We're at HH now in a GV (one of only 5). I booked at EXACTLY the 7 month window as soon as online booking opened that day. I checked about 2 hrs later and all grand villas were booked. I would imagine summer is even more difficult. It appears the resort is close to full...however one building is out of service, since they're painting exterior

What's the weather like? Have you used the fireplace?

It rained very heavily all day today. Walkways have ankle deep water in some places. Temps are warm though, so no need for fireplace. Rain appears to have stopped now, but, we made a group decision to order in for dinner.... We're waiting for delivery from Giuseppi's. I think mostly everyone had the same idea.... The wait time for delivery is 1 hr 40 minutes!!

We are here as well. The rain was insane yesterday. Afterwards they had a guy with an electric pump clearing water off of walkways. We ordered from Giuseppe's as well.

We were lucky to get a 2BR dedicated last year, end of May booked exactly at 7 months right before the summer crowds. Had a FABULOUS time, beautiful weather, low humidity! Hope you get to go!

We have been to HHI once and are heading back this summer. Both times are early August stays, both 1 bedrooms. We had no problem getting the reservations both times, BUT, that was because we were flexible within a few days of when we wanted to go. In both cases, we didn't get the exact days we had wanted, but did get a few days after. In our case, it didn't matter, but if you are locked in, it may be difficult. Definitely worth it, though! We are very excited to head back.

We are going in July and have a 1 bedroom booked.
Summer visit works for family now, but I usually do a day or two in the fall or winter as well.
