HH to Atlanta Airport

I've just bought some great price Delta tickets from the UK to Atlanta in October - (just couldn't resist so the planned Vienna vacation will go on hold for a few years )

I am hoping - but haven't checked availability yet - to spend time at HH and leave there Friday morning for a 6pm flight from Atlanta back to London.

Is this 'do-able'? We will leave HH early morning, I think it's probably about a 5-hour road journey but will Friday traffic cause me major problems?

Any advice would be appreciated.

you can do it - yes 5 to 6 hours - just leave HH early - before 10:00am.

once out of Savannah - there wasn't alot of traffic - until Macon (take the by pass) - then not again until you got close to Atlanta.

That's what I am hoping - I still can't believe that 24 hours ago I had not even thought of going (never stayed there before so I will be doing searches on these boards for tips) and now I am all booked. Just need somewhere to stay on first night after arriving in Atlanta; we will probably drive for around an hour or so and will look for a Hampton Inn or similar in the direction of Hilton Head. I'm just so pleased with this you wouldn't believe

You should be able to easily make it in 5 hours if you don't have unexpected delays, 4 hours if you're lucky. October shouldn't be difficult getting off HH in Oct, especially that early.
