Does anyone know if these are happening this year? If so is it worth the effort?

Thanks

Since that program has been a staple at the resort for years now, I'd be surprised if it were not available this summer.

There are variety of activities at the resort - a parade, family pool games, the usual Tuesday night barbeque and the weekly fireworks displayed right behind the resort. You don't need to participate in all events, but it is a very fun event at the resort.

Enjoy!

Hey all,

We are going back to HHI for the second time (in 6 years). The first time we went was with our teens during some difficult times with the oldest. Long story made short... we don't remember much (DW nor I). We do remember the beautiful marsh and the great trees, but everything else is kind of a blur. We're empty nesters now and not much for the night-life or restaurants. We do love nature and history. So... beyond Savannah, what should we see or do to make this a memorable time. Thanks for any input.

dh and i were at hhi in early nov - we did a civil war tour [homemade and self-guided pretty much] - we went to savannah and tybee island one day, we did beaufort another day, then hilton head a third day and drove to charleston on the way home for another day. now to me, one fort looks just like any other fort - some are just bigger/smaller than others! but i did enjoy riding thru beaufort and appreciating the homes!!!!!!! it was a grey and cool day when we went to savannah so perhaps such a day in late fall is not a time to tour there. it seemed like there was too much reconstruction going on, the line to paula deen's restaurant wrapped around the corner [could any restaurant really be worth that kind of wait?] [there was no waiting at uncle bubba's!]; but the ride down bull st was remarkable - another architectural delight. there are two boring fort locations on hilton head - we did those, too. what we didn't get to do was walk thru the forest in sea pines to find the indian shell ring [still don't know what the deal is about an indian shell ring]. and if ya really wanna see some wildlife, then ya gotta spend the day walking, biking around pinckney island. get a map off the internet or at the coastal discovery museum and visit the refuge - it's a birder's paradise i'm told.

if there is any way to get to charleston, that's where i would head [take 95 rather than the local roads]! fort sumter, the patriot's point whatever with the air craft carrier, boone plantation just outside of charleston that was the inspiration for gone with the wind and was in the movie glory i think. and in north charleston on a weekend, one can tour the restoration of the confederate submarine hunley...that was something!

feel free to pm me if ya wanna know more specifics about the forts or whatever!

Most of the events that HHI provides during the SS Tuesdays are at no costs... Night sliding in the Big Dipper pool... Pool games... Poolside dancing.. Parade... Fireworks... etc...

The only thing that you need to pay for is the AYCE BBQ... The fare is traditional... BBQ chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, corn, cole slaw, potato salad, etc.. The food was good, but nothing that can't be done at home on the grill...

I would definately recommend the free stuff... The BBQ is up to you... My kids enjoyed all of it the last time we went...

I'm so excited! My DS turns 4 on 7/17 which is a Tuesday during our trip. I thought these activities might help flesh out a party away from home.

thanks!

If you have any questions about Savannah, feel free! (We live here).

There were recent reports of Manatees in the Harbor at SeaPines....something to look for!

We will be staying on HHI for a few days two weeks from now. We are just trying to hide from the world.

I am hoping that the Tuesday things will still be going on. When we stayed there a few years ago, all they had was a campfire.
