My DH and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversay this Oct. We would like to take the kids to either Vero or HH. We have not been to either yet. I want it to be warm enough to swim though. So which one would you choose?

Average High October Air Temps

VB = 85
HH - 77

Average October Ocean Temps

VB = 78
HH = 73

Both are do-able.

Since you are from NJ you can probably handle the cooler temps ok.

I am going to assume your kids are younger ages, and you should know that VB and HHI are very different beaches in that HHI is a very flat beach and the water is very shallow for great distances with nearly no waves. VB on the other hand is a drop-off type of beach and has sizeable waves.

Many people go to VB with toddlers and younger children. I just thought it might be helpful to know the difference.

My DH and I spent a week at VB this past October, can't remember the exact dates, but it was a great time to be there. Not crowded and the temps were still great, spent every day at the beach, there were a couple days when they had reg flag warnings, but water was still warm enough for me and I like it warm. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for your help. I am thinking Vero will be the better choice. My boys love to boogie board and love waves. Plus airfare is cheaper to Orlando than Savanah. How many days do you think at Vero?

I have been trying my best to be objective and not point every single person to VB, :lovestruc

but YES... Right choice. :banana:

Boogie boards = VB. :beach:
