Hi -- I know I can count on some help here. How popular is HH for the New Year's period? After Christmas -- but through New Year's Eve, etc.

We are kicking around the idea of using DBIL's banked points for a 2 bdrm, but will have to wait for the 7 month window. Does anyone want to hazard a guess at how we might fare with a ressie request of this sort for this time of year.

Also -- any input on weather? As cold as Wisconsin?

Any info is really appreciated.

I'd love to hear some opinions on this; we usually go to WDW after Xmas, but HH sounds like a more laid-back time. Vero was nice after Xmas, too.

We have gone down the past two years for NYE. The pattern seems to be that the resort is full for 12-31 but empties out relatively quickly past 1-2. We have really enjoyed our time down there. It is a very relaxing way to greet the New Year. As far as weather, it can be hit or miss, but is certainly not as cold as Wisconsin!

As for the 7 month window, if you are looking for a 2 BR, you should be OK. Studios and 1 BR's are limited. There are only 5 GV's and those tend to be taken fairly early as well.

Good luck with your planning. Maybe we'll see youy there!

We have spent 4 holiday seasons at HHI and loved it. The weather has ranged from mitttens and hats on the beach to 60 degrees! DS had been swimming in heated pool, but I'll stick to hot tub. Lot's of activites at the resort..kid's NYE party also. One year there was an oyster roast at the beach house. We love it at this time..and tons of outlet shopping!

You might want to look into a cash reservation now. Unlike the other dvc resorts this time of year HH is quite reasonable, especially if a member discount is avialable. You can always cancel the cash reservation if you can make one on points at 7 months. We are already booked on cash for this and look forward to celebrating NYE sea island style.

I agree with above post. We needed NYE reservations for our trip back from WDW(OKW 12/26-12/31/04) this year so we called MS and got a 1bdroom for $112 cash reservation...Not bad for NYE! We even get to cook goodies for the late night and sleep in the morning before the next leg of the trip back to Boston.

Thanks for your kind input. The idea of using cash ressies for HH (or anywhere) is something I don't ever think of. Will consult with other members of party to see what they think.
