is march a good time to go? We would like to spend a week or so there in March . Is it usually crowded? how is the weather? any help greatly appreciated

Steve

We have goneto HH in March many times. The Spring Break crowds (both HS and college) do enjoy the area, although it's still not as busy as the summer months. You'll find a lot of families during the month. Because of the influx there are many great activities available- both at the DVC resort and on the island in general.

Temps will range from mid 60's to around 80. The beach is great and does attract many people, but the ocean will likely be too cool to enjoy any significant swimming.

There is a wide range of activities available- kayaking, canoeing, fishing, parasailing, shelling, crabbing, nature walks, sunset cruises, Dolphin cruises, shopping, theater, golfing, tennis (many college teams participate in informal matches- a nice opportunity to see some good tennis)...plus over 300 restaurants to choose from for dining.

Have a great trip!

We went the last week of March, this year. The temperatures were 60-70's during the day, and 50's at night, with low humidity. The main road was always heavy with traffic, but moving well. The shops were not crowded and resteraunts were busy. The resort was full but the only evidence of this was finding a parking space. It was a great week.

I was there March of this year during the 3rd week (my Spring Break). There were lots of activities offered at the resort, but the island was not crowded at all like it is in the summer. Weather can be iffy, I suppose, at any time when you are "between" seasons, and it was cool and rainy the whole time I was there. The day I left to fly home, it was about 70 degrees; that was the warmest it had been. I guess that could happen any time during early spring, but it was still nice to be there.

We were there March 8-13 this year and to us, March seems like the perfect time to go (followed very closely by any other time!). We did several of the beach tours and would imagine that in warmer months it might get kind of hot and unpleasant out there on the marsh. Hardly anyone was playing miniature golf when we went in the middle of the day. Perfect weather to ride bikes. For us, it seemed a little too cool to swim, hardly anyone at the Beach House. Pretty busy in the pool at the resort though. We're not really swimmers, though, and our home climate is so hot, that we rarely swim if the air temp is less than 90 degrees (like Orlando weather in summer).

Thanks for the help. Sounds like we are going to give it a try.

Steve
