Since we won't be going to HH this year for Christmas, I thought I'd try to duplicate those yummy cranberry & walnut cookies they serve every day in Big Murggies Den. Does anyone have the recipe--or something similar? It would be great to have these at home on Christmas day! (Anyone who's there during the holidays--have a few for me!) :D

I tried to get this recipe from Chef Gordon a few years ago, but it was one that he wouldn't part with! He did tell me though, that if you make a basic chocolate chip cookie dough and substitute dried cranberries (craisins) for the chocolate chips, you would probably have something pretty close. I have never tried it -- but the suggestion sounds like it would work. Hope this helps!!

Ocean Spray Craisins packages have variations of this recipe on them. For example, the cherry flavored Craisins have a variation called Black Forest Cookies, which include chocolate chips and walnuts and the cherry flavored craisins. Thanks for the reminder - I need to bake some for the Holidays!

Thanks, everyone! I'll try a recipe and let you know if I come up with something similar! Chef Gordon is so accommodating with all of his expertise that I guess we can't blame him for keeping a few "secrets" to keep us coming back for more! :D

The cranberry walnut cookies that are served at the Hilton Head resort are from Hilton Head cookie Company on Hilton Head Island. Disney buys them frozen from the company and the staff just bakes them....hence Gordon could not give you the recipe! You could probably call Hilton Head Cookies and have some shipped.

Wrong! He can't give you the recipe because the cookies he bakes are from Hilton Head Cookie company on Hilton Head Island.

Too bad I didn't check this thread once again before I called the DVC HH front desk! They told me what you just reported, linco711. I'm still going to attempt creating my own recipe... Wish me luck! :Pinkbounc

OK, folks, I did it! I took a white chocolate and macadamia nut cookie recipe and substituted dried cranberries and walnuts for the white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts. Although I'm going to play around with the actual measurements, I think it's a pretty good substitute. So...for all of you who are like me and having withdrawals--it'll work until we can get back to HH!

Here's a hint: those cookies use shortening, not butter. Good luck!!! Your post brings back memories---a few years ago I used to buy those cookies when in HH, and one year I was determined to recreate them. Agreed, they are so yummy.
