Built from the ground up specifically for DVC.
Not sure what was on the island before though. The bridge was there, as well as the walkway along the marina.

Nothing was on the DVC island before Disney brought it. And the bridge may have been there but it looked nothing like it does now. Where the beach house is ...was the beach right away for shelter cove (i believe). That is why on the left side of the beach house is the walkway for them and excess to the snack bar.
