Anyone watching? They had to have already notified the winner right? I mean what would happen if they went to the person's house and they weren't home?

I think they do notify some of their family so they can set it up for them - if I remember right.

Sadly, none of the winners actually get to move into their new house =( I think one did and lost it in foreclosure if I remember right.

Anybody go so far as to especially put on a full face of makeup and a great outfit?

Foreclosure? So they're giving away a house with a morgage? Crazy!

Really? So you have to be rich to win the house. That is sad. So what do the winners actually get if they can't pay the taxes and closing costs on the house?

The problem is taxes on the HUGE package - income taxes, due in April the year year after the dream home win.

I read before that HGTV doesn't necessarily expect the winner to live in the dream home, but that selling it - paying income taxes, etc. - the winner will be left with enough $ to change their lives.

Well, she's wearing a coat and gloves... she can't be near my house.

Well the girl in the RV that is waiting to surprise someone is in a coat and it appears it's already nighttime/dark there. Since it's still light out here and pretty warm, that leaves me out. Ratz!

Are there big snowbanks???

Oooo it's dark here!

Nope, she's not on my street--unless she's lurking and we NOTICE strangers in East Japeepee! :rotfl2:

Last year's winners were notified while attending at family get-together at a restaurant. I believe the grown son had been told in advance & arranged this party saying it was for some other reason. So all their friends & family were there.

I've also read about the owner who took the house, moved to the location giving up their jobs, took a huge mortgage to live on & to cover taxes & expenses on the huge prize package. Unable to sell property yet, yes, in foreclosure.

I think I've also read the people need to decide immediately if they are taking the house or not. I belive the one in foreclosure is the only one who has ever taken the house.

These houses are in expensive exlusive vacation areas. Its not like the average joe can find a job in these locations that will sustain the lifestyle & expenses these homes create. People who own these homes are RICH & have 2 or 3 vacation homes already elsewhere.

I've read--didn't someone post a link to a story on this here last year?-- that often those homes are built on land with covenents that even prevent renting the home out.
No, no 'average' family will be able to hold on to the property

What was Kim Miles occupation? I missed it. The winner of the trip was from my area.

The door was open, so someone in the household was in on it.

The hostess is doing her best to try to get a reaction out of her.
She did say that she watches Mickey Mouse, so I'll give her a bit of a break. :)
