HGTV and the Food Network were the only 2 channels I felt 100% safe leaving the girls watching by themselves.
First, 2 years ago, Paula Deen let loose with several "cuss" words during a Christmas show of all things. Now, they were not the WORST cuss words but enough for me to fly from the other room to make sure she was through.
Now all over the Food Network and some on HGTV we have the sex, sex, sex commercial. GRRR!!!!
I mean every other word is "ask me about sex", over and over. I am not a repressed person but I liked a couple channels that I do not have to be on my guard about. Why oh why do they need these on these channels???

Both channels are aimed at people from 35 to 55 years of age. That group is the one that can afford to buy the "Whoopie" pills, and the group that most often needs the pills. So the advertizers pay for those shows. So you get "whoopie" Pill commercials.

They had one on today that stated that "diabetes caused my E.D.". My Daughter says "I have diabetes, I might get that!" :lmao:
I said "You will not have to worry about THAT problem!" :rotfl2: :rotfl:

You just gave me the best laugh I've had all week!! :lmao: Please kiss you DD for me!!

To the OP - the 2 channels I feel are great for kids are Disney Channel and Nick. Do your kids like those?

The Food Network show that got me was the "Secret Life Of..." where the host out and out said that the "fat man in the red suit" didn't exist! Luckily, my kids were nowhere near the tv.

I know what you mean about all the commercials though. I don't like when they are watching Cartoon Network and the ads are for PG-13 movies or other things that I don't want them seeing. :sad2:

I know what you mean. When DD was a young DH would watch star trek on the sci fi channel. No big deal, nothing bad on or too scary on that. But when the commercials came on I would go running towards the remote because the scariest and creepiest commercials would run. :scared1: We had to stop watching that channel all together. I think I even took it off our favorites so it won't flip to it.

I know what you mean though, it is about food and home decorating. Does it have to have sex and other inappropriate things on it just because it is aimed for adults?

My DS likes to watch "How It's Made," which is on Discovery, I believe.

Well, I've learned to keep a close eye on what segments are coming up, because the other day the announced that they were going to show how sanitary napkins are made. :scared1:

I said, "OK, time to find another channel!" Poor DS looked at me and said, "But mom, it's just about napkins" :confused3

:lmao: :happytv:

35 to 55 are the ones who most need those pills? I thought they were for the 60 and over crowd. I'm 35 and DH is 50 and we have no need for any "whoopie" pills. So HGTV and FNW can stop running those commercials now if that's really who they're trying to sell to, we have no need or intrest.;)

I have also noticed a lot of inappropriate commercials during baseball and football games. I guess they are aimed at men....I kept hearing "Viva....Viagra" in my mind........

That is too funny. My DH loves that show too and watches it with the girls all the time.

This particular commercial has a lot of kids saying something like "talk to us about sex" and it cuts away to another kid saying the same thing- over and over and over...........I feel like that is beating them over the head w/ the message. I am not even sure how sponsored the commercial but it's frequency is driving me nuts.

DH watched SciFi as well. The girls will yell out "Mommy, Daddy is watching a scary commercial!" :lmao:

I just want to know what Paula Deen said. I can't understand the woman half the time anyway - her sicky sweet southern accent gets me. :scared1:

I know what you mean - I had the same complaint a couple years ago - and it was Paula Dean!!!!! Some Xmas special (maybe the same one replayed??????) - thought DD was safe - then out of no where "he can kiss my____"...and it wasn't grits!!!!!!!:)

hehe..well how bout this...several weeks ago DH and I were in the bed watching Ace of Cakes on Food Network when all of the sudden it changed to the HBO show Bunny Ranch!!

At first I thought it was a commercial until it showed FULL nudity and ummm other things.

I tried to change the channel but the ONLY thing coming through was the Bunny Ranch!

DH said.."IT'S A SIGN FROM GOD"!!!!!:lmao:

Dh did ask the cable guy the next day about it, and he said he had NO idea how that could have happened.
