I'm booking our tickets for September with Air Tran this weekend. Have never flown with them before, but will soon find out how they compare (taking into consideration their price and the 9.5 hour drive to get there, plus all the food and pee breaks for the 4 kiddies!)

Congratulations! Did you find a park-n-fly hotel in Portland or are you driving directly to the airport? Sometimes the hotels are cheaper then parking at the airport...

MacDonald's in Houlton offer 4 pack chicken nuggets for $1from their value menu . They have quite a varity for a $1. Thought this may help with the little ones and budget!

Good luck and have a fun vacation!!!! Don't forget to add your vouchers for $25 off Each person.....

We will be staying at the Travel Lodge, 3 miles from the airport (at least that distance is what they told me). They seemed to be the least expensive option, as we need two rooms because there are 7 of us. I don't think the kids would make the drive, then a 6 hour flight down (or should I say, I don't think I could make it!)

Thanks for the tip on McDonalds. That is the restaurant of choice when we travel (not the adult's choice, but the kids). I didn't realize they had food so cheap (they don't here on PEI, $25.00 for 4 kids meals, and some of them are still hungry).

I had to make up a couple of email addresses to get the extra $25.00 coupons, but it was really worth it. We will end up saving $375 on flights using the coupons (7 of us flying down, 6 flying back). That will pay for the hotel in Portland (2 rooms x 2 nights) and the parking. And with the dollar getting stronger, I splurged and got us Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party tickets. The kids are pretty excited.

Thanks for the posting on the Air Tran coupon, and the food tips.

Do you have to pay for parking? Howard Johnson offers free parking and shuttle service to and from the airport, could they bring you in a cot? The beds are quite large..

The Halloween party is so cool. My son and I went in 2006. We loved it. We like it better then the Christmas party. The Fireworks are so good. Good halloween candies too!

Forgot to add all the MacD's have the cheap dollar menus in Maine....

Who here has done Airtran before? I would drive from Moncton with three kids and hubby. Are they reliable, comfortable? Are there meals on board or snacks? Tell me whatever you can. Thanks.

We where very happy with Airtran when we used them last January We stayed at the Days Inn South Portland Airport across from the Maine mall they did charge for parking but had a great free airport shuttle ,a great continental breakfast with fresh made waffles, and a indoor pool

I wish they would hurry up and release their fares for March!! I'm getting impatient! ;)

I can't believe the rates out of Portland!:banana:

Congrat's to everyone booking for these prices. It really helps with the budget when the travel expenses are available at these rates. I can handle driving that far, even in the winter.

Here's hoping we can get a deal for March/April.:rolleyes1
