"Hey Ma! I Can See EPCOCK From Here!" UD 11/26: The Legend of Puffie

Hey Meg! I just found this.. I've been stalking your PTR. Oops.

So glad to hear you left on time! And I know what you mean about magazines--I bring a bunch when I gon on airplanes.

And, I'm so so excited to hear the good news about Patrick!!

Coronado Springs is a great resort-- my favorite moderate-- you should stay there sometime!

Can't wait to read about AK Day 1!!!
Hi, Rory!

I'm glad we left on time, too. It certainly makes things a lot easier.

We visited CS back during our '03 trip, and we ate dinner at Pepper Market. We've only stayed at one Moderate, though, and that was Port Orleans Riverside.

As for Patrick, we talked it out, and we've established that we're friends. Just friends. Really good friends. But who knows? It could change. Besides, we've only known each other for 6 weeks.

Animal Kingdom, Part 1

or

"HOW Many Pics of the Kali River Rapids Queue Did You Take?!?"

Mind you, it was still fairly early when we checked-in to AKL. In fact, let's just say that we made it to AK by 11:00. Not too shabby, eh?

Now, where to go? Shall we pick up FastPasses for Everest first, or for Kilamanjaro Safaris?

Everest ultimately won out, and I led the 'rents to the lost city of Serka Zong.

Of course, we had to take a picture of this tree first:

And this mountain:

We still had almost two hours before our FastPass return time, so we figured we'd kit Kali River Rapids first, and then go eat a quick lunch before coming back to ride Everest.

But, of course, Mom saw the monkeys.

And we had to stop. Because Mom loves monkeys.

They were siamang apes, actually. But still. They were primates, so we had to stop.

Love that mountain!

Just loving the amazing detailing in Asia:

The Standby line for Kali said 30 minutes. Which turned out to be a lie. It was more like 45, 50 minutes.

But I digress. We were hot. So we decided to brave it.

"Look! I can see it!"

010-1.jpg

On the way, we ran into this...interesting...bug:

011-2.jpg

Maybe he got lost looking for It's Tough To Be a Bug! ?

When we've been on KRR in the past, it's either been winter (December '99, December '03) or the wake of a hurricane (August '08; read the TR in my sig!), so we've never walked the entire queue and really looked at everything.
So, to make up for it, we did. And took pictures. Lots of pictures.

Eventually, we got on the ride. Where I proceeded to not get wet. For the second trip in a row riding this ride. Not wet at all. However, this very nice newlywed couple did get drenched!

It was past noon by now, and we hadn't eaten since near-6, mind you. So we trekked to Pizzafari for lunch. It was so nice and COLD in there! Relief! My pizza was okay; I'd eat better later in the week.

We still had time before our Everest FastPasses became valid, so we decided to hit up It's Tough to Be a Bug! before heading into Asia again. We ended up in the front row, far right side. Near the Hopper Audio-Anamatronic. Seeing it close up was really cool, actually. It's one of their most advanced yet, and it really shows!

After that, we went on Everest--with only a 5 minute wait. Woohoo! I enjoy the view from the top very, very much. It's just so cool, to see everything like that.

So what to do now...?

Up Next:

Dinos and Fish? Oh my!

Love, Meg

the stand by wait time on Kali is ALWAYS a lie. I don't know why that is. People are usually really wanting to cool down so they suck you with the 30 minute wait time and 90 minutes later you are on.:lmao:

Aww I like the monkey/ape pictures :D
I haven't been on Kali since... '06? It's only because when we go to AK it's either in the winter/fall time or when we go in the summer, the line if two hours long! And I'm not one to put myself out there for having a chance on getting soaked. I spend to long doing my hair every morning to go get soaking wet that day. Haha, I'm weird, I know

I know! Such liars, those KRR queue people are.

Which is why I always wear my hair up!

But really, I'm not too much of a fan of KRR. I much prefer the raft ride at "that other theme park".

Hi Meg!

I am in awe... you flew down, checked in, bused over, and made it to your first park before 11am!! :worship:

Kathy

Hi, Meg, I'm late! Followed you over from your shameless plug in the MM thread XD Way to go, getting there so early, and I'm loving those monkeys!

Siamang apes, mind you ;)

I loved getting to AK so early! Really, as long as I see Finding Nemo, Dinosaur, Everest, and Kilamanjaro Safari, I'm fine. Oh, and the parade, too.

I love the monkey pictures! So cute! And you're right-- the detailing in AK is incredible (just like every other park!) but AK really makes you feel like you're in a different country.

I can't believe you didn't get wet!! KRR always drenches me. Especially when I don't want to get wet . It's such a bummer you didn't get wet though- I bet the cool water would've been refreshing!

I love short waits like the one you had for EE. Thank goodness for FastPass!!

Love all the pictures!! :)

The only thing about AK, though, is that it's so darn hot in that park!

KRR never really gets me wet for whatever reason. I got so much wetter on the raft ride in Islands of Adventure. And I like that ride better than KRR. Just sayin'.

FastPass was our saving grace sometimes, like with Toy Story Midway Mania (as you'll find out soon enough).

But we'd get better wait times, trust me! And I'm not even just talking about our literal walk-on Jungle Cruise during our KTTK tour! ;)

Meg i was gone for a week and you only made one update! whats taking you so long? :rotfl:

anyway i loved the update! :goodvibes your lucky you got great pics of the monkeys! they slept alll day we were in animal kingdom

Hey hey hey, I was riding out the last week of a 6 week internship :p

Thanks! Actually, Mom took all of those pictures; I can't be held accountable for them!

You didn't get wet on Kali? Lucky!!! Everyone on our raft thing (except for me, the "dork in the poncho" :rotfl2:) got absolutly drenched!!!

Nope! I mean, of course my butt got wet from the seat, but I was dry for the most part.

Animal Kingdom, Part 2

or

Dinos and Gorillas, Oh My!

Last I left you, we were leaving Everest in the search of something to do.

Hmm...how about...Dinoland, anyone?

(By the way...does anyone actually call it "Dinoland, U.S.A.?" We've always just called it Dinoland...)

We checked the time for Dinosaur. 30 minutes. Shall we? Sure, why not? It was nice and cool in there, and it was just...so...HOT outside! I mean, dang! It was like in the high 90s in that park that day!

"We're not gonna make it...we're not gonna make it!" I just love Dinosaur. I really don't know why. It's not the best of rides, but at the same time, it's not the worst of rides.

We played a couple of games in Dino-RAMA, and then decided to head to Africa to get FastPasses for Kilimanjaro Safaris. We ended up going through Dinoland, around the Hub (Err...Discovery Island), and got these pics on the way:

Our return time ended up being a half-hour or so later, so we decided just to explore the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail. Mom LOVES monkeys/primates as I've stated before, so our mission was to try to see the baby gorilla.

We saw this bird on our way to Gorilla Falls:

028.jpg

And then we reached the gorillas! We didn't see the baby, but we did see this guy:

029.jpg

As we rounded to where the bouncy bridge is, we could see a nice big gorilla just sitting there, chilling. The animal keeper told us that it was a male Silverback. Thanks to Mom's zoom lens on her new fancy camera, we got these AMAZING shots:

By this time, it was close to 3:30, which is when our return time was.

And I'll stop here because

A) I'm mean :p

and

B) I have too many pictures to put in one post!

Up next:

Uh-oh...will we make the parade in time?

Love, Meg

I love Dinosaur! But, I'm terrified of it. My eyes are always close during that ride. You wouldn't think I was 23 years old

You got some great pictures of the Tree! And what a silly/cute looking bird!

Too bad about the baby but that Gorilla is amazing! I hope the rest of AK day went well.. can't wait to read more!

Okay, you had me at Epcock! LOL...anyway, I'm in! I can't wait to read more and the pictures are beautiful!!
